BLURB:
Bored senseless in a meeting, Jon McNeill amuses himself with a kinky dating app on his phone. Then the app matches him with another user… who’s six feet away. Suddenly, Jon finds himself on the same page as someone who’s way above his pay grade: millionaire property developer Rick Pierce.
The app isn’t kidding, either. They’re a perfect match. Jon’s a dom, Rick’s a sub, and they both love bondage. Both guys are well into their 40s, know their way around the bedroom, and definitely appreciate a good suit. And the best part? They’re a match outside the bedroom too.
But office relationships aren’t easy to keep a secret. When the truth comes out, Jon is certain he’s about to get fired. Instead, he finds himself tangled up in a much bigger mess.
Contains two men who’ve only dreamed of this kind of sex, literal and figurative sex machines, blindfolds, a sub being punished during a business meeting, enough rope to tangle up a millionaire, and a Golden Girls marathon.
STORY REVIEW:
Overall, I enjoyed this story. It was highly sexual but there was a very romantic ending that appealed to my softer side.
To say this story was highly sexual is an understatement. From the very beginning, this relationship was all about the sex. It was about chemistry and kink and compatibility. These men could not keep their hands off each other and the lust was well displayed. Even as life got in the way and these men were forced to just relax, sex was always first and foremost in their minds because the developing relationship was a product of sexual attraction first. I think it worked very well because the sex was more than just sex, it showed these men’s emotions but it was not the only way they showed emotions.
I have to admit I really liked that the men were older and it showed throughout the story. These were not older men who had the bodies and abilities of 20 year olds like in many stories. These men had aches and pains and creaky joints. We were constantly reminded that they were not the typical “perfect at any age” gay men and it was fabulous because it added a bit of reality that I easily connected with.
I liked the BDSM aspects. However, for a story that was supposed to be based on a D/s relationship, I didn’t feel like the D/s relationship was explored very much or shown on the page in much detail. It was mostly talked about and fade to black. There was some on the page BDSM scenes and those showed great trust and were HOT, but it was just very rare which I was not expecting based on the blurb or initial set up.
I also did not feel there was a difference between Dom Jon and regular Jon or between submissive Rick and regular Rick. Actually I didn’t really feel submissive Rick much at all since he was always pushy and mouthy. Maybe this was the narration because Nick J. Russo did not differentiate between Jon’s regular tone and what was constantly referred to as his Dom tone. It was all the same voice with the same inflections and emphasis. So I am thinking maybe I need to read this in ebook form to really decided if this is the narration or not.
I struggled a bit with Jon as a person because I just didn’t understand why he felt as he did. Why did he need to take care of everything and everyone himself, especially his ex wife. I mean, OK dominant personality, but he also let his employers walk all over him and remained hidden so a not to create conflict. I guess I just felt like I didn’t get a good read on him outside of his relationship with Rick.
Since this story was only told from Jon’s POV, I never got a change to really get to know Rick as an individual. I liked what I say of him in relation to Jon, but would have enjoyed the chance to get to understand his history and motivations and to know what he was thinking in the several tense situations.
I absolutely loved the ending though. Jon finally stepped up and made his grand gesture and it was just perfect and sappy and left this story on a high note. I felt warm and fuzzy and really felt like I was satisfied even with the issues I had.
NARRATION REVIEW:
I didn’t like this narration. Not because it wasn’t a good reading, but because that is all it was, a reading. I didn’t feel the character’s personalities were represented well especially since each man supposedly had two very different personalities/voices, one in work world and one in the bedroom. I just didn’t get that from this narration at all. You may feel differently.
