A former FBI agent is partnered with the enemy in this suspenseful male/male shifter romance from debut author Charlie Adhara
Hunting for big bad wolves was never part of Agent Cooper Dayton’s plan, but a werewolf attack lands him in the carefully guarded Bureau of Special Investigations. A new case comes with a new partner: ruggedly sexy werewolf Oliver Park.
Park is an agent of The Trust, a werewolf oversight organization working to ease escalating tensions with the BSI. But as far as Cooper’s concerned, it’s failing. As they investigate a series of mysterious deaths unlike anything they’ve seen, every bone in Cooper’s body is suspicious of his new partner—even when Park proves himself as competent as he is utterly captivating.
When more people vanish, pressure to solve the case skyrockets. And though he’d resolved to keep things professional, Cooper’s friction with Park soon erupts…into a physical need that can’t be contained or controlled. But with a body count that’s rising by the day, werewolves and humans are in equal danger. If Cooper and Park don’t catch the killer soon, one—or both—of them could be the next to go.
This book is approximately 90,000 words

REVIEW:
This story was an interesting world building with shifters (wolves) coming out of the woodwork…so to speak, but only to the authorities. In theory…this is a good thing…but the way that the authorities have handled things…yeah…not so much. There are bitter feelings on both sides of the fence and after a horrible incident…the big bosses on both sides decide to put an experimental team of both human and shifter together and hopefully, they can work together to help with the cases that seem to fall thru the cracks.
Oliver Park…I really liked him. From the first moment that we met him on screen until the very end of the story. I liked that Oliver is this really mellow, laid back person who uses the talents available to him as a shifter. I like that Oliver doesn’t have any preconceptions of working with a human and only wants to do the right thing. That he is a really good man and I liked him so much. I loved his open-mindedness. It was a great foil to his partner, Cooper Dayton.
Cooper Dayton, yeah…I really didn’t like his character…AT ALL. I know that we’re seeing this book thru his eyes and going on the experience with him…however, I really couldn’t stand him. I found him to be just so very narrow-minded and that he was going off of other people’s perceptions and not his own. To see that this man who could be brilliant, let someone else’s thoughts and feelings dictate how he was going to act. I found him to be this petulant child thru most of this book, not the 30-something man that he was written to be.
The mystery/suspense part of the story was very well done. There were a couple of surprises, however, I am such a huge believer in figuring out who done it and always wanting to know that I’m correct…in this case…yes…I was correct in one aspect and almost there in another. I was pretty damn proud of myself in figuring out who was in this caper. I have to say…I was on target and that made me feel good. The second part that I was almost sure on…that took me a few…to see that something about this person just didn’t feel right to me…yeah…I was pretty close and upset that I didn’t follow my gut on it.
I have to say that overall, this was a very decent story and if it wasn’t for the Cooper, I’d say this was a great story….but as he’s one of the MC’s in this story and it’s told thru his POV…well…he just annoyed me to no end. Maybe it’s me…but he just didn’t do it for me and that clouded my view of the story. I think that some people may not see things the way I did and I hope that they get the enjoyment from the story that the author intended. I just find that I cannot STAND people who can’t make up their own minds. I want a MC who takes that information from others and use it when it’s necessary, however, they make up their own minds.
