BLURB:
Devan knows exactly what he wants from life: a good career, a husband who loves him, and a child to call his own. He’s working at the perfect job, and has found the man of his dreams in Eli. That only leaves one box left to tick. When his friend offers to be a surrogate mother for Devan and Eli, he’s convinced all his dreams have come true.
Eli has been fighting his entire life. Fighting to keep his sick mother safe, fighting his frustration, and fighting daily as an up-and-coming MMA star. The one thing he can’t fight is the feeling that he’s made a terrible mistake agreeing to be a father with Devan. On the worst night of their lives, Eli knows Devan is better off without him, and leaves.
When Eli returns three years later, he comes face-to-face with Devan and a son who might be his. Devan has moved on with his life, but seeing Eli once again reignites forgotten passion. Yet if Eli wants to make it work with Devan, he must decide if he’s ready for the biggest fight of his life.
REVIEW:
Devan and Eli are married, trying to have a baby (even though it looked like it was never going to happen!), and then they had nothing.
Eli was an up and coming MMA star who had to keep his marriage to a man secret. After the second attempt at becoming fathers failed Eli felt like the pressure of everything was too much and left. He left Devan, the marriage and the idea of having a baby.
To Devan, having a baby to love and to have them love him back unconditionally was everything he ever wanted. Whilst he thought Eli wanted the same things he did after Eli left him Devan had to do a lot of rethinking. What he decided was that although Eli was no longer a part of his life he still wanted a baby, so he went ahead and agreed to let his best friend Meg try a third time.
Three years later Eli returns to town to promote the reopening of Ringside Gym. When Devan realises this may be his only chance to get Eli to sign the divorce papers but when they meet up again the same spark is there. Eli wants to try again but Devan was devastated when Eli left and has trouble trusting him again. Eli has his work cut out or him, he has to overcome his manager, who managed to get him to sign a ridiculously strict contract.
Thankfully Eli and Devan both make the right decisions and decide to try again. As you would expect the journey isn’t easy but I don’t think they would have made it if it was. The dynamics in this story are very different, more than likely due to there being a child in the mix. Don’t get me wrong, I loved this story as much as the other two!! It felt like, the entire book was about getting back together and once they were together the story very quickly ended! Make sure you read all the Ringside Romance story’s in order to get the most out of them.
