The Army is the only thing that First Sergeant Danny Glenn has known in his adult life. From the age of nineteen on, he’s worn a uniform every day. He’s seen so much in his twenty years but the last deployment did something to him. Danny’s begun to wonder if he can’t do more good helping people in the US instead of other countries but to do that he’d have to get out. Doctor Liam MacNamara is finishing up the last of his residency in Emergency Medicine. Now’s the tough part, which offer to accept. He could stay in New Orleans where shifts are never dull or choose to uproot and experience somewhere different. College followed by medical school and then residency are the only things he’s known since he was eighteen. There’s got to be more out there, right? Can a retired first sergeant and a brand-new doctor balance each other enough to explore their options together?
REVIEW:
I simply love the universe Kris Jacen created when she gave us the Heptad. These guys are a fantastic bunch and living my life surrounded by the military this series is especially close to my heart. Explore with Me is the second book in the With Me series and I recommend reading them in order. We get to know the guys in the first book (Wait for me) and for full enjoyment I think it’s best to read them in order. However, I imagine it also works as a standalone as beside some background information everything you get here works as a whole.
We meet both Danny and Liam previously in Wait for Me and they also share a dance during the wedding scene at the end of book one. Three years pass and we go on discovering what life has in for the heptad. This time we get Danny’s story and we learn how a chance encounter at the ER in New Orleans changes his life for good.
I love the writing style. I feel that I’m part of this amazing chosen family and I truly love each and every member. The story is simple and real. We follow their lives with Danny and Liam in the center and see what it means to make serious, life altering decisions, support and love our family and friends and how true love happens at the most unexpected places.
If you enjoy stories about the military, about real, lifelike characters in ordinary situations, if you love the wonderful, complicated relations among family and friends, this is a perfect, entertaining read for you. Highly recommended.
