It’s that time of year again people. The time where we, the voracious and obsessive readers of LGBTQ romance, look back and reflect on what an amazing year of books it’s been. If you’re anything like us then you’re already compiling your 2018 “To Read” list, but first, let’s share some of our favourite books from the year just gone.
Over the next few weeks we’ll be posting our top reads of the year. Please feel free to tell us your own favourites, or simply comment on our choices.

CAROLINE
A heavy and emotional read about moving on in the face of grief. Lots of tension and twists and turns. Fabulous read by a new to me author.
Prophesy (The King & Alpha Series #1) by A.E. Via
When one of your favourite authors tries her hand at one of your favourite tropes you have to keep everything crossed that it will turn out to be as good as you expect. It was actually better and a fantastic start to a new series. An Alpha with attitude and a sassy but fragile vampire – this was excellent.
Wolf of the Northern Star (The Wolfkin Saga #2) by SJ Himes
OMG people this series! It will rip your heart out a dozen times. This is a truly epic love story. I cannot recommend both books in the series enough.
A good dose of Leta Blake deliciousness! There appears to be a common theme of werewolves in my picks this year but this one had a heap of things that I like. I loved the age gap here especially as it was the Alpha that was much younger.
Audio: Signs of Life by Melanie Hanson, Narrated by Robert Nieman
If you are looking out for something that will rip your heart out, stamp all over it and then set it on fire then look no further. This was heart-breaking but Jeremy shows massive courage and Kai cheers him on from the sidelines.
The Struggle Within by Tyler May
This was a struggle to read but so worth it. Harrowing, dark and depressing – that is the life that Dr Ryan Jacobs lives. Heed the warnings on this one as it’s not an easy journey but one that was very much worth it.
The Alpha Prince (Kingdom of Askara #3) by Victoria Sue
One of my favourite tropes by one of my favourite authors. Few people write wolves the way Victoria Sue does in my humble opinion. Her stories have all the paranormal aspects I love but also have great depth and I would highly recommend any of her paranormal stories.
I loved Slow Heat and The Alpha Prince, too! I have not read the other books on your list yet, but they look good. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you so much!!
Slow Heat was great. I enjoyed The Prophesy as well. I need to read Victoria Sue’s series. Thank you for your list!
Thank you for your list. I just started Slow Heat and like it so far.
loved Wolf of the Northern Star and Prophesy
Read a couple of these and enjoyed it.
Thanks for your tops. Looks like some good ones to check out.
thank you for your great list, Caroline. I’ve read and loved some of those books
These all sound great!
Again a list with none I have read – but Prophesy is on for the third time so must be worth a look!!
Thanks for sharing, I read most of these titles.
Great list with some emotional reads (i love those) thank you for sharing
