REVIEW:
Man have mercy. I swear the ‘Fates’ were against me reading this book as hard of a time as I was having lol. But boy was it worth it once I got to read it. Sweet little Jaycob is all grown up and pretty much a man now and I have missed him so. Knowing the story was his made it that much more exciting.
There is not a day that goes by now that Jaycob doesn’t feel the loneliness seeping in. All around him are these beautiful relationships, and although he is happy for each and every one of them, it’s hard because he wants that for his very own. He wants someone to love all of him, every single doubt, fear, moment of guilt, magic, vampire and all. But he is afraid no one ever will because it seems that people fear him because of his magic. His relationship with his papa is growing apart, and although he has his father, it’s not the kind of love he yearns for now. He thought he had found it in a long time friend but that turned out to do nothing but break his heart. But fate stepped in one day as he stumbled upon 5 people in the middle of a scuffle. He quickly put things were they needed to be, but one Silent Boy made a lasting impression. Jaycob knew he needed to see this boy again, everything in him knew he needed this boy. Who knew this boy would lead him on a path full of so much. To the point where Jaycob thinks he’s about to lose it all.
Oh. My. Word. This book about killed me. Everyone claims Jaycob is so much like his papa, Prosper, but the truth is he is so much like his father, Spencer, it is insane. The levels of emotion that go through him are just…..wow. He’s always been a special child, knowing he was born of magic. But no one quite knew, until more lately, just how strong his magic really was. I don’t think anyone really knew just how special he truly was, until he met Silent Boy. Spencer has always loved Jaycob more than anything and he knew his precious boy would be the best at anything he put his mind too. Having so much special DNA has made an eclectic and unique young man. And Jaycob wants someone to love and to love him. He wants someone to see him for him and beyond all that he is supposed to be and is. When he meets Silent Boy, the world just seemed to click for Jaycob, but is seemed at every turn, something would come along to tear them apart. And Jaycob has to take a journey that proves how strong and special he really is. My heart aches for him in this book. I don’t want to give too much away, but this sweet boy goes through A LOT. And even though he wants to give up at times and run away, he faces things head on, even against his own papa. He gets his heart broken, he gets betrayed, and so much more, but only to learn that the one thing he wants is worth fighting for, no matter what he has to lose. And this sweet young boy grows up to be an amazing young man.
Often times, life hands us blow after blow. We can either cower and hide or face things head on and fight. If the fight is for something special, it is always worth it in the end. But you often have to go through hell to get it. I so recommend this book. If you’ve kept up with this series, you know what a wonder Jaycob is. If you don’t, you need to find out. Lol. I’m so happy for Jaycob and how much he has grown. What a wonderful book.
