Hello, everyone! Welcome to Love Bytes Reviews, and the monthly blog post of C.S. Poe.
How’s the New Year been treating you all? Resolutions and goals holding up to scrutiny? I’d say I’m doing fairly well… I wanted to eat more Japanese Kit Kats— technically I have not, but I found some for my BFF, which is a nicer thing to do than to hoard them for myself. I wanted to play with more cats, and I’ve gone through the orientation and completed a background check in order to be a certified volunteer at my local shelter. Mailing letters on time… I even stocked up on extra boxes so lack of packing supplies couldn’t be an excuse!
I have not yet revived my Tumblr. Oops. And I didn’t post a new chapter of The Murder Collection for you all, but in my defense, I’m currently on a new travel laptop and forgot to transfer all of my files before heading out to the wilds of Pennsylvania. (Insert necessary guilty-looking emoji here.)
In other news, I had a book release! A new mystery-romance— Southernmost Murder. It’s an exciting adventure in Old Town, Key West, featuring a lovable and narcoleptic historian and his FBI agent boyfriend. Murder, mystery, intrigue, pirates! That’s right, I said pirates.
I’d love to give a copy of the paperback to one reader. Tell me what draws you to Southernmost, and if you’ve already read it, what you most enjoyed! (Open to U.S. shipping addresses only. One random winner will be chosen from the participating commenters on 1/25/18.)
That’s it from me for the month of January! I’ll see you all next month, same day, same blog!

Aubrey Grant lives in the tropical paradise of Old Town, Key West, has a cute cottage, a sweet moped, and a great job managing the historical property of a former sea captain. With his soon-to-be-boyfriend, hotshot FBI agent Jun Tanaka, visiting for a little R&R, not even Aubrey’s narcolepsy can put a damper on their vacation plans.
But a skeleton in a closet of the Smith Family Historical Home throws a wrench into the works. Despite Aubrey and Jun’s attempts to enjoy some time together, the skeleton’s identity drags them into a mystery with origins over a century in the past. They uncover a tale of long-lost treasure, the pirate king it belonged to, and a modern-day murderer who will stop at nothing to find the hidden riches. If a killer on the loose isn’t enough to keep Aubrey out of the mess, it seems even the restless spirit of Captain Smith is warning him away.
The unlikely partnership of a special agent and historian may be exactly what it takes to crack this mystery wide-open and finally put an old Key West tragedy to rest. But while Aubrey tracks down the X that marks the spot, one wrong move could be his last.

Just finished Snow & Winter 1 & 2 (where do I find the rest of their books?) and started this one last night – love them all! Can’t wait to read more from these guys 🙂
Oops – I find the MC’s interesting in how they manage their issues – I never knew about Sebastian’s condition, but had at least heard of Aubrey’s – I learned alot!
Thank you for reading! I’m writing Snow & Winter 3 now— I’ll definitely share updates on social media when I have more details! 😀
Congrats and thanks for the post. I loved Joy, and my recent Christmas fav, Color of You. But now your talking about a number of things that clicked right in. I love Key West, stayed at one of those resorts when I first came out & loved it. Then, there’s pirates. Played swashbuckler and all as a kid. That leads to loving history, so a historian? Count me in. And the tops, I’ve been into gay mysteries starting with Joseph Hansen, John Morgan Wilson, Nava, Plaksy, to Thornton, Price, to you name it. And that cover!
I’m not entering. I just wanted to comment that I love the cover & I thought the mystery was engaging. I also liked that you include characters who have interesting medical conditions in your stories.
I have PhD in history, so I’m an enormous history nerd, elephant sized enormous. And that’s why I loved Aubrey. And Jun? swoon . . . . . .
