When Heath moves in with his sister in the sleepy forest town of Noel, he thinks he is going to help her out. She’s been having some trouble with the locals, and the inn needs a lot of work to keep running. He never expects the move to open his eyes to a whole new world of men who can turn into bears. Even more unusual are the unfamiliar feelings Heath has after meeting alpha bear shifter, Angus. Angus makes Heath feel in ways he never has. On top of that, he stares at Heath like he’s a starving man and Heath is his next meal. No matter how Heath tries to deny and avoid his attraction, Angus is somehow always near.
Heath isn’t used to being watched so closely, and despite his efforts to keep Angus out of his problems, the possessive shifter is always there. There isn’t much he can do to help Heath though. He owes money to the wrong type of people, and now those people want him to pay, with his body. All Heath has to do is survive an unregulated fight with men who are all more experienced than he is and his debts will be cleared.
Angus knew his pack was starting over. They’d carved their own slice of heaven out of the land near Noel, and when Angus arrives with the lumber and resources needed to expand, he expects to find a community in the making, not his mate. He knows what everyone says about Heath, but Angus can see through the man’s mask. He soon sees that Heath is in trouble, but won’t tell him how.
When Angus discovers who Heath is in trouble with and what they want him to do, he knows he can’t allow it. Heath may be willing, but Angus will not let his mate to be put in harm’s way.
While Heath might not recognize his attraction to Angus, by the time Angus is done, Heath will realize his feelings and who he belongs to.
REVIEW:
Well I knew I saw sparks fly at the end of book 1, and I was right. And now I’m waiting for book 3 for the sparks flying at the end of this one lol. In the first, of course, Roscoe and Sawyer end up together, but at the end of the book the first of Roscoe’s brothers come home and he is immediately smitten with Sawyer’s friend, Heath. So in this wonderful book we meet sassy, fiesty Heath again and the bear he’s giving a run for his money, Angus.
Heath had come to Noel to help his sister with her inn. In the process of helping, he borrowed some money from some very not nice people. They want their money back or they are going to do things to Maggie or Heath or both. So Heath has to do something for them to consider the debt paid. During this, Angus knows Heath is his mate. But he doesn’t want to push Heath because everyone says Heath is straight. But Angus sees the looks and movements that show Heath may not be as straight as everyone thinks he is. Angus tells himself he will go slow but when he finds out about the trouble Heath is in, things seem to speed up real quick. Heath is overwhelmed with desire for Angus and Angus just wants to lay claim. Like now. But the trouble he’s in is causing things to be tense and it seems to get worse instead of better. Heath does everything he can to protect his sister. Including harm to himself. But Angus is having none of it and it’s time for Heath to prove he’s not as weak or whatever everyone thinks he is.
When Angus first came back from his travels, the first thing he noticed was Heath. Even before he looked at his brother and his mate in their ceremony, he noticed Heath. And immediately felt mate. I love Angus. He is such an alpha lol and gets so frustrated with Heath. He wants to be the provider, the ‘man’, and take care of Heath. Heath however, is not some dainty little girl to be taken care of and he puts his foot down quite often. It’s so funny. Angus huffs and puffs like a bull, or a bear lol, when Heath does that, but Heath is just trying to prove he is still a man himself and doesn’t need to be coddled all the time. Even though it might be nice ;). The trouble he’s in he has to fight, literally, to get out of and that makes Angus definitely not a happy bear. Heath just wants to prove he can take care of himself and Maggie, his sister too. I feel for Heath some of the time, because he doesn’t want to be considered less than. He has such a heart of gold. He just wants to take care of his sister and be there for her. Maybe one day have a family of his own. It’s certainly been crossing his mind since Sawyer and Roscoe in book 1. But he doesn’t think he will get his alpha the way Sawyer did. Little does he know, he’s got one already waiting. And Angus wants to be all he wants and more.
I love these two. The sparring between them keeps Angus on his toes. And it’s quite funny. Heath pops that alpha bubble quite a few times lol. I really recommend you guys reading it. It is spicy, funny, with some suspense, with lots of hot sex (woohoo) and bears you want to climb like a tree. And I’m hoping there’s a book 3 and that it’s who I think it’s about. If you want to know, you have to read. Happy reading!
