Eric and Ellison Gant better known as Sin and Saint were opposite sides of the same coin. They epitomized the nicknames given to them by their friends in the band Executioners. One thing Sin and Saint did well was fight and being inseparable means they had a lot of disagreements, but one thing they agreed on was Sheriff Camden Pelter was theirs. The older, stoic man didn’t agree, yet they were determined to change his mind.
Camden Pelter had the daunting job of turning the Powers Sheriff Department around. The residents of the Georgia town didn’t have much faith or respect in the Deputies serving them. That’s where he came in and he was determined to do his job. That was easier said than done with two annoying brothers Sin and Saint who dogged his every step. No way in hell was he getting mixed up in the chaos that were the Gant Twins. Now if only if he could get them to listen and realize they didn’t have a chance of changing his mind.
“We’re not exactly the secretive type. We’ve never been in the closet.”
He hated the way his stomach dropped. Was this a leave me alone meal? They’d be crushed if Camden didn’t want to have anything to do with them or keep their relationship on the down low. It wouldn’t be fair to Saint. His brother deserved it all, from the public displays of affection to the chance of a ring on his finger one day.
“I wouldn’t ask that of you or Ellison, that wouldn’t be fair to either of you. I invited the two of you here to talk.”
“So, you don’t want to—”
He caught Saint nervously biting his bottom lip. He jerked his gaze to Camden as a chair slid across the floor.
“Ellison, come here.”
If Saint didn’t obey, he sure as hell would. Camden’s voice commanded, and anyone would be helpless to say no. The man could read the goddamned bible and make it sound dirty.
“Ellison, I don’t like to repeat myself.”
Saint stood and took the few steps that separated them. Camden patted his right thigh, and Saint stepped around to stand between Camden’s thighs before taking a seat. Camden lifted his hand to stroke Saint’s cheek and tipped Saint’s chin up until Camden and Saint’s gazes met. Saint’s pale cheeks were stained pink.
“Now, do you want to finish your question?”
“You don’t want to date us. If you like Sin more, I don’t mind.”
He jerked like his brother had punched him. They’d discussed this so many times he’d lost count. It was an agreement they’d promised each other. They would find their man, and they’d be happy.
“Ellison, I don’t like to be lied to. With that warning out of the way, why do you think I’d like Eric more?”
He held his breath waiting for his twin’s answer. Saint dropped his gaze. Camden’s large hand encompassed Saint’s jaw and gently forced Saint to look at the bigger man.
The intensity in Camden’s eyes was equal parts intimidating and caring. Camden cared what Saint’s issue was, and he was helpless to look away from the two men.
“Ellison, if you’re going to speak to me, you’ll look me in the eyes.”
“I’m not as skinny—”
“I’m going to stop you right there. I won’t dismiss your insecurities because we all have them, but to me, you’re beautiful, and a little extra weight doesn’t and won’t ever change that. Understood?”
“Yes, sir.”
He held his breath as Camden straightened and leaned into Saint. The man’s mouth barely an inch from Saint’s. He wanted that kiss for his brother. His twin kept himself separated from everyone; there but not. Saint preferred his invisibility. It was time Saint’s wishes came true.
“Ellison, how could you not know?” Camden asked the question, but the man didn’t give Saint a chance to answer.
Camden and Saint’s lips conformed to each others’ perfectly. Saint made a tiny, needy sound and Camden growled. Camden curved his thick fingers around the back of Saint’s neck.
Saint looped his thin arms around Camden and held their man tight. Camden’s hand quickly wrapped around his wrist and pulled him onto the big man’s free thigh. Camden nipped at Saint’s lower lip and then turned his head toward him. Oh fuck, he’d imagined this so many times since they’d spotted Camden at Brawlers. But this, oh, this was so much better. Camden’s lips were firm yet soft, conforming to his as easily as they had Saint’s.
He moaned as Camden’s tongue flicked over the seam of his mouth. He reached for Saint and held him close—he needed an anchor, and Saint was that for him. The kiss ended far too soon, but it was more than they’d expected. A few more soft, fleeting caresses and Camden helped them up, then back into their chairs.
Was that the kiss-off they feared or the start of something more? It couldn’t be that easy. When he glanced at Saint, he saw his question and apprehension mirrored in identical eyes. He needed to be strong. Saint needed him to hold it together and like he’d done for twenty-three years, he might break, but Saint would always come out whole after the tears and a broken heart.
