Hi all! I’m KC Burn and I want to thank Love Bytes for hosting me today.

 

While writing blog posts I was watching one of my favourite movies – Death on the Nile – which I have watched several times. I find Agatha Christie movies and books timeless and each time I experience them, I enjoy them tremendously.

 

As for romances, though, I’ve never been particularly drawn to rock star heroes. I know, I know – I can hear the screams of outrage from here! People love them, but they’ve never been my go-to. Perhaps that’s because I have such a narrow field of musical taste. Perhaps it’s because rock star heroes are almost always ridiculously rich, successful alpha males which I generally don’t care for. A struggling musician? One who’s at rock bottom for whatever reason? That would be more in my wheelhouse.

 

But I do still love a good rock star romance, despite that. So I thought I’d share a short list of my top 5 rock star romances, the ones I love to go back and reread, the ones that are – for me – real feel good stories.

 

In no particular order…

 

• Hell (Heaven Sent #3) by Jet Mykles: Hell was an awesome character. I loved him to pieces. Very memorable.
• Gasp! by ZA Maxfield: This rock star was successful professionally but also rock bottom personally and I adored it.
• Heart Song by Sara Bell: Such a short story but Sara has a real way with shorts, and this one gets me in the heart every time.
• Moonlight Becomes You (Lucky Moon #1) by Piper Vaughn & MJ O’Shea: I generally enjoy anything I’ve read by either of these authors, and the Lucky Moon series was no exception. They definitely made me want to read about these rock stars.
• Sinner’s Gin (Sinners #1) by Rhys Ford: Miki is another one of those super memorable and engaging characters, and I know I’m not alone in loving him! This one had the added advantage of a mystery, too.

Because I’ve never been especially keen on rock star heroes, I certainly never expected to write one. But there’s no accounting for the sneaky muse! And oddly enough, Devlin and Jack in Banded Together have become one of my favourite couples. I hope you enjoy them as well!

After emptying the grounds from the coffee maker, left over from his mother’s morning brew,

Devlin prepared another pot for himself.

 

With some caffeine in his system, he sat at his mother’s kitchen table and grabbed her calendar. Some of her clients provided free calendars as a promotional service, and she’d been using them faithfully for as long as he could remember. Birthdays, anniversaries, appointments—more doctors now than the Little League games that had filled his youth—appeared in her strong hand. Sure enough, she’d clearly marked tomorrow as “School Starts” in exactly the same way she’d done every year from kindergarten to grade twelve.

How was it September already? He wasn’t drinking steadily and yet somehow managed to lose the past few months to… television and video games. He huffed out a bitter laugh. Income from the band and his savings meant he wouldn’t have to worry about money, but right at this moment? He was an unemployed middle-aged man who slept most nights on his mother’s sofa.

But he was no longer Blade, the gritty singer and bassist for the punk-industrial-goth band Negative Impression. Negative Impression died six months ago with their guitarist Trent, more commonly known as Reaver. The part of Dev that made up Blade had died alongside him. Now he was just Devlin Waters, unemployed and about to go back to university.

KC Burn has been writing for as long as she can remember and is a sucker for happy endings (of all kinds).  After moving from Toronto to Florida for her husband to take a dream job, she discovered a love of gay romance and fulfilled a dream of her own — getting published.  After a few years of editing web content by day, and neglecting her supportive, understanding hubby and needy cat at night to write stories about men loving men, she was uprooted yet again and now resides in California. Writing is always fun and rewarding, but writing about her guys is the most fun she’s had in a long time, and she hopes you’ll enjoy them as much as she does.
