The week between Christmas and New Years is a perfect time for reflection. After the holiday decorations are neatly put away and the tired-looking tree is dragged to the curb, there’s a small window of time to ruminate on the past and make plans for the future. Some may add a resolution or two. Not me. I don’t want to make promises I can’t keep. I’d rather dream of places I want to visit and things I want to accomplish than worry about how much exercising I should do to work off the copious amounts of chocolate I’ve eaten during the holidays. LOL.
So 2017 has been a weird one. Personally, it’s been an interesting year of change. Our youngest left home for college, our middle son started his last year of college and our oldest got his first “big boy” job in San Fran. According to him, he’s living his best “gay” life. If you’ve read any of my previous posts here or on my blog, you’ll know how meaningful that is to me as a parent.Professionally, I made the leap into the world of self-publishing and so far, I’m loving it! I released three full-length novels and four novellas this year and six of those were self-pub. And two of my books, A Kind of Honesty and Leaning Into the Fall (self-pub) won first and second place in their category for the 2017 Rainbow Awards. Kind of exciting! I’m half way through my Leaning Into Series. The next two full-length novels will be released this coming winter and spring and I’m already thinking about my next series. Where should it be set? Should I try a sport theme? Decisions, decisions. But those are fun kinds of decisions.
It was by far more difficult to decide that this will be my last regular monthly post as a guest author at Love Bytes. Don’t worry! I’m not going anywhere, but after two years I think it’s only fair to give another author an opportunity to have their voice heard. I’ll definitely stop by to share info about new releases and free short stories I plan to post on my blog (Yes! Aaron and Matty’s wedding story will be coming soon!). Be sure to follow me on social media. You’ll find the most up to date info on my blog and in my FB group, Lane’s Lovers. Join me!
I can’t thank Dani at Love Bytes enough for her kindness and support. Not only is she an amazing asset to the MM romance community, she’s a thoroughly lovely person too. We’re all lucky to have her as an advocate in this genre.
I wish you all a happy 2018 filled with joy, love and laughter. And books. Lots of books! I look forward to sharing more stories and slices of life with you in the new year. Best wishes always.
Happy Reading! Happy New Year!

“Life is a series of natural and spontaneous changes.” – Lao TzuLane Hayes is grateful to finally be doing what she loves best. Writing full-time! It’s no secret Lane loves a good romance novel. An avid reader from an early age, she has always been drawn to well-told love story with beautifully written characters. These days she prefers the leading roles to both be men. Lane discovered the M/M genre a few years ago and was instantly hooked. Her debut novel was a 2013 Rainbow Award finalist and subsequent books have received Honorable Mentions, and won first prize in the 2016 and 2017 Rainbow Awards. She loves red wine, chocolate and travel (in no particular order). Lane lives in Southern California with her amazing husband in a newly empty nest.
