Sometimes your mouth makes deals that your heart can’t honour.
Jude is a highly successful model, but a very reluctant one. His life is full of casual hook-ups with pretty men in glamorous locations, but it’s still empty. However, circumstances decreed a long time ago that this was his path, so he’s resolutely stayed on it and accepted his fate with good grace. He made a deal with himself and his hook-ups. Get in, get out and no ties with anyone.
However, an accident at home one night leads to him making a new deal and accepting the offer of help from an unlikely source. It leads to an unexpected summer of falling in love with a larger than life man and his child.
But by the end of the summer his reasons for not staying are still valid. Will he turn away? Can he?
Asa is a talented actor who has spent time away from the scene to look after his son. But now he’s back, and the last thing he needs are complications from the gorgeous man who is staying with him. Scarred from too many betrayals, he has no intention of forming a lasting tie with anyone. However, he can’t resist the beautiful man with secrets, and to his horror he develops feelings.
But a deal’s a deal and they said it was just for the summer. What can Asa do with a man who has forever in his eyes and goodbye on his lips?
REVIEW:
Sometimes there is absolutely nothing better than a story about a no strings fling that turns into something more. I friggin love them. Characters that shun love, relationships, commitment and happily ever afters just tug at my heartstrings and I love, love, love when they find that 1 thing they think they never wanted. When I read Rule Breaker I knew that Lily Morton was an author of stories that I wanted to read more of. When I knew Jude, who was one of my favorite characters in Rule Breaker, was getting his own story I was quite eager to read it.
Jude is a model so he hides a lot behind his looks and career. The last thing he wants is a relationship or emotional entanglements. After he’s left homeless due to a home disaster, a friend offers him a solution that at the time seems perfect.
Asa is an actor and a father who has put a lot of things on hold for his family. He wants to grow his career and a relationship is not something he’s looking for. Having Jude stay with him and his son for the summer seems like a great idea for both men but they don’t anticipate the attraction they both feel to become uncontrollable.
I loved Jude in Rule Breaker, seeing his friendship with Dylan and knowing how much he cared about him I really didn’t think I could love him more. But the way he is with Billy….melt my heart…!! As the emotions and feelings grow between him and Asa, the bond he has with Billy expands as well.
Jude and Asa, slow burn for a bit fighting the emotional and physical pulls between them…they are sexy as hell together.
I also loved learning more about Jude he is such an intriguing characters it was nice to fill in some of the blanks.
I really enjoy Lily Morton’s writing. Sometimes with British authors I get lost in the slang but that doesn’t happen when I read Lily Morton books. The banter is funny, the dialogue, the letters at the beginning of the chapters that give us additional insights into the personalities of the characters; all of it just works. Absolutely a great story…with amazing writing…recommends.
