BLURB:
Roscoe has finally freed his bear pack from the clutches of their cruel, former pack master, but not without difficulty and much violence. So, when he happens upon a young man, Sawyer, in his woods, Roscoe is suspicious, especially since Sawyer’s scent makes Roscoe want to claim him against every tree in the forest.
But, relocating his pack and starting over wasn’t easy and Roscoe’s rules have to be strict. He needs to be cautious while he figures out what he’s going to do about his inner beast wanting to claim the young–and human–Sawyer as his mate.
Sawyer may be young, but he’s been on his own for a while now and doesn’t react nicely to being told what to do–even if the person ordering him around is insanely sexy and can make his knees weak with a single word. Roscoe makes him feel whole, something he hasn’t felt before, but Roscoe also wants to hide him away.
And, it seems, for a good reason. There is distrust in Roscoe’s pack, and while Roscoe will not shy away from establishing his dominance, he refuses to rule with fear as their last pack master did.
It becomes clear to Roscoe that to have his boy and his pack, Sawyer will need a lesson in obeying his alpha’s commands if he is ever to be his mate. And if there is one thing Roscoe is very sure of, it is that Sawyer will be his.
REVIEW:
When I was asked if I wanted to review this book, I jumped at the chance. Kiki Burrelli is quickly becoming one of my favorites. I never thought I’d be an mpreg fan but the characters in these stories are so wonderful, I can’t help but fall in love with them. She knocked it out of the park with her Wolf’s Mate and The Den series and she’s done it again. And I love, love, love that she has intertwined those two series with this one. It felt like coming home.
In this one, though, it’s obviously bears. We meet Sawyer, a sweet young man who has had it a bit rough. He is homeless and camps in the forest, roaming from place to place. But in this forest, his scent has been caught by alpha bear, Roscoe, and that scent immediately registers….mate. But Sawyer doesn’t know about shifters and all he sees and hears is one big ass scary bear. In his attempt to run, he gets hurt and Roscoe has to shift to help him. With a few kisses between them, Roscoe decides he definitely can’t live without this snarky smart ass young man and does everything he can to get him to stay in a town nearby until he can figure out what to do with him and how to tell his den. With things on shaky ground, Roscoe does his best to integrate them but is met with some derision. Mainly by one shifter. But the pull of the mates cannot keep these two apart and they struggle to do what they can to be together, and Roscoe has to make sure that it is safely for his human mate. Betrayals and just plain stupidity at times do everything to keep these two apart, but Roscoe is determined to have a pack that is healthy and happy, along with having his mate.
Roscoe is definitely all alpha. And all male, lol. Sometimes I think he’s a bit neanderthalish and dense, but when it comes to his mate, he takes that business seriously. And Sawyer, bless his sweet heart, needs a keeper, lol. His mouth shoots off before his brain fires and gets him in trouble. But Roscoe really loves it. With what Sawyer has been through in his short life, Roscoe wants to make sure that he is protected and safe. Especially roaming around a forest where anything could get him. Sawyer just wants the feeling of rightness to finally stay. He finally feels like he belongs. With all the turmoil in Roscoe’s pack, as they settle into new life with a new leader, he doesn’t quite know sometimes if he does belong. And it takes of lot of duh moments to get these two to get their heads out of their butts and to think with more than their weiners! But when they are together, you know it’s meant to be. It’s like the stars align and there is no place in the world that either would be.
Just when I think I couldn’t possibly have another favorite character, along comes one that just hits me in the gut. And Sawyer is it this time. (I still love Farley more 😉 ) With everything he has been through, and all he has to learn in a short amount of time, he is so brave. It is a lot to take on. And when everything is coming at him, he often wants to run, but when he feels his mates arms around him, he knows he’s home. Sawyer is just this incredibly sweet sweet young man and I love him.
I really think for all you mpreg fans, this is another awesome one to read. And for those of you not sure about mpreg like I was at first, definitely give this author a chance. Her books will melt your heart, and you will find yourself feeling like you are right there living beside these shifters in these stories. Can’t wait to see more in this series! (I’m hoping that there are two certain ones who are next)

Kiki Burrelli has a way of writing that combines our human selves and animal selves that show how messy life is daily, when we ignore either part of who we are , things become more complicated.
Yes! Thank you for that!
