Mischa isn’t stupid; he knows that happily ever afters only happen in fairytales. Still, he had thought that as soon as Tom got over the horrible assault that almost tore them apart, everything would be better. Perhaps not fairytale happy right away, but better. Instead, they seem to be falling apart, and quite spectacularly so.
What Mischa hadn’t taken into account was the fact that violence have longtime consequences – consequences that are threatening to shake the very foundation of Tom and Mischa’s relationship. Because Mischa can handle Tom’s weakness, but he can’t face his own. He doesn’t have a choice, though. Not if they’re going to make it.
As Mischa and Tom struggle to rebuild their relationship, it turns out that happily ever after is damn hard work. It’s also wildly kinky, because Tom and Mischa have to build a new trust in the playroom as well. One scene at a time, Mischa and Tom explore their new limits, and that’s the kind of work that Mischa likes. After all, that’s what badass Doms do.
Please note: This is a second edition of a book previously published by Torquere Publishing.
REVIEW:
Wow. What a ride again. My heart is filled with love and also laughter. Mischa and Tom are just simply perfect for each other.
Happily Ever After continues the minute where we left off in A Russian Bear and we finally get to see what happens to Mischa and Tom after the tragedy that put them through the wringer. After the attack Tom’s life (and of course at the same time Mischa’s life) turns upside down. Their normally well functioning balance is totally off and it needs their amazing love and a bit of outside help to get back on the right track. Fortunately, the love is there and some well meaning friends help them along the way to find their way back to happiness and their kink heaven.
Although this book might be read as a standalone, I think you should definitely read A Russian Bear first to know where these two are coming from, see how they fell in love and also their amazing dynamics in the playroom.
As Tom is trying to recover from the brutal attack he had been through, they need to face some serious obstacles. The nature of their relationship makes it a bit more complicated. How do you start inflicting pain as part of your play to someone who has been brutally beaten, how do you ease back to the comfort and catharsis of the scenes they had shared… you get all the answers here as Mischa and Tom are working together to rebuild their balance in their home, bedroom and playroom.
The atmosphere is different in the first part of the book. More solemn, more serious. The last part is back to the carefree experimentation with kinkier and kinkier toys so we get some mind blowing scenes to witness. We also get the most Neanderthal, bossiest, most amazing marriage proposal that fits our couple perfectly while the epilogue made me smile and showed us clearly how much these two love each other.
If you enjoyed A Russian Bear, this book is definitely a must-read. I can’t wait to read the final book in this series. Highly recommended.
