Well, it’s been a year.
Some good, lot of bad, and now it’s nearly over. So, I guess it’s time for a State of the Tamm.
It’s hard to believe it’s been a full 12 months since I wrote my last Christmas post. The year seems to have slipped away from under him. That’s what happens when you live to deadlines though, your focus is eternally on the next red-ink ‘FINISH’ scrawled in your calendar (I do actually write it red on my Google Calendar too) and the months just sort of blur.
So what — in writer’s terms — have I done this year that’s worth memorialising now?
I went to my first Dreamspinner Writers Workshop in Florida in February, and my first Salon du Livre. I also published Liar, Liar, Bone to Pick and Ghostwriter of Christmas Past (Advent Calendar novella) with Dreamspinner.
I had my first Skype meeting with my publisher, Elizabeth North. That made me feel a lot like a real writer person! (She’s very nice!).
Wrote some books. You’ll be seeing them next year! Including the Mystery Project!
I am also planning to go to….drumroll please! The Salon du Livre in March, the UK Meet in September, the Dreamspinner Writers Workshop in September, AND GRL in October. Some of these are subject to me getting my vaguely confused butt registered at appropriate times!
I’ve also got — life and schedules allowing — four books coming out next year, and a novella.
At some point, I’m going to have to stop thinking I’m a big fraud and I’ll get caught out any day, huh? Actually — and also — I probably need to finish my tattoo before the universe rains disapproval down on me.
So, I guess I’m a writer now. Maybe even an author! And what I’m most thankful for is every reader who read my books and enjoyed them and hopefully will read more. I’m about the most socially awkward person you’re likely to meet outside of some sort of specialised environment for us, so I don’t know if it always comes across — but you guys have made my year.
Hopefully I’ll see you again next year! So have an awesome solstice holiday of choice and a very happy New Year!
