As a security officer on an interspecies ship, Growlan Raskli’s experienced in heading off species-specific aberrant behaviors in order to keep the peace. But when her captain asks her to find out what’s bothering their sole human crew member, Raskli’s out of her depths. She hardly knows anything about humans and she’s not a psych doctor.
Something’s definitely upset Human Jen, something to do with human holidays. The more time Raskli spends studying humans and interacting with the intriguing Human Jen, the more personal the assignment becomes. Determined to lift the dark cloud from Human Jen, Raskli will do whatever it takes—within safe parameters, of course.
REVIEW:
I absolutely loved this one. It was adorable yet timely in its cultural awareness. The whole story was wonderfully crafted and left me crying happy tears. I highly recommend it.
I loved the beings in this one. The imagery was awesome and vivid. I also loved that the names fit the physical descriptions so well. And the personalities were fantastic. I especially loved how eager each being was to learn more about another species and help celebrate and have fun! It was a great statement on how the world could be if we all loved one another for their uniqueness.
I also loved the way the ‘research’ was presented and the way human rituals and emotions were described. It was adorably clinical yet clever. The ‘safety protocols’ and manuals were very well done and very entertaining.
Finally I loved the way the ‘friend dating’ occurred and slowly morphed into more. A lot of the connection was off page but I was given more than enough to feel the connection. I’m not sure I personally needed the sex scene but hey, it worked and it was well done.
I don’t care if you like f/f romance or not. You should still grab this one because it’s cute and fun and clever and emotional and just all around fabulous. Try something new, you won’t regret it.
