BLURB
Gabriel Wyatt is a big city Detective living in a small Ohio town. He expects a peaceful existence once he moves from Miami, Florida, but that’s the last thing he finds. Instead, Gabe discovers murder, mayhem, and one smart-mouthed stylist he can’t get out of his head.
Josh “Jazz” Roman is a small-town business owner with big dreams and an attitude to match. He finds himself in the middle of a case that brings the dreamy detective to the front door of his Curl Up and Dye Salon. Josh learns that the biggest threat to him isn’t a killer; it’s a man who wants something from him that he vowed to never give again – his heart.
Both men deny that there’s something between them, even though they’re drawn together like magnets. Can Gabe convince Josh to let down his guard or will Josh let past hurts destroy his chance at a happy future?
There was something completely different about him when he took my hand and led me up the stairs to his living space. He almost seemed happy to see me and that wasn’t something I associated with Josh. There was a flirty lightness to him that I had never seen before and it was a welcome change over the sadness I saw etched on his face at the funeral home. My desire to drive away his sadness may have overridden my common sense.
Of course, my dick was solely focused on what he planned to do with his mouth. I adored his mouth, and not just the sheer beauty of his full lips and the oral delights they offered. It was his smart, snarky words that held my attention or the vulnerability that he accidentally let slide out on occasion. He was a mystery that I longed to solve, but I wasn’t sure the end result would make me happy. I could wind up falling for a guy who might never feel the same.
Josh turned to face me once we reached the top of his stairs. “You’re thinking too hard,” he said, a sly grin spreading across his face. “We can’t have that, now can we?”He reached down and cupped my growing erection through my jeans.
“No, we can’t.” I always felt like I was tiptoeing around him, even when it came to sex. I felt like he held back pieces of himself in reserve too. That just wouldn’t do. I reached down and stroked him through the dress pants he was still wearing from the funeral that morning. I felt his reaction to my touch as he hardened and lengthened against my hand. “Part of you likes me.”
“That’s some good sleuthing you’ve done there, Detective.” Josh released my cock and started walking backwards, crooking his finger as he went so that I would follow.
“Some clues are more obvious,” I gestured to the way he strained against his pants. “Others are subtler, like the way your nostrils flare when I’m near you, or the slight pink flush of your skin. The smell of your soap gets stronger when your body heats up.” Josh stood in the middle of his bedroom looking at me with dazed eyes. I advanced on him, pressing my body flush against his. “Your body tells me just how much you want me, even if you don’t like me.”
Instead of crushing my mouth against his like I normally would, I cupped his face in my hands and slowly lowered my mouth to his. I was grateful that I did because I felt the slight tremble of his lips as our flesh met. It was another sign of how badly he wanted, or even needed, what I offered him. I wasn’t foolish enough to think it was me he wanted.
I am a wife and mother to three kids, three dogs, and a cat. When I’m not dreaming up stories, I like to lose myself in a good book, cook or bake. I’m a girly tomboy
who paints her fingernails while watching sports and yelling at the referees.
I will always choose the book over the movie. I believe in happily-ever-after. Love inspires everything that I do. Music keeps me sane.
This book sounds great. Congrats. I prefer to read a book than to listen to one. Sometimes the narrator of an audio book doesn’t have the right voice or expressions to go with the view of the characters that is in my head.
I love this series, it’s just soo much fun – and I’m not ashamed to admit I’m a huge fan of Savage’s 😉
I need both audio and “regular” books in my life. That way I don’t ever need to be without a book – though laughing out loud in line at the grocery store tends to get a few looks =P
I enjoy audiobooks but I definitely read more than I listen 🙂
Eight hours and 49 minutes of Josh and Gabriel…OMG…that would be amazing!!! I’d love to hear Joel’s take on their relationship!
Audio books are the dessert while books I read are the appetizer and main course. I can only afford so much dessert!

Congrats, Aimee, and thanks for the post. I appreciate audio, used to listen when I was on the road more, but tend to read more now.
Congrats! I prefer reading books.
I prefer to read books. Paperbacks are my first choice but I do love my Kindle.
