Josh is convinced he’ll never find someone who’ll love him the way he is. He’s not exactly a catch with his PTSD, which has transformed him into a homebody most of the times. Sweet, maybe, but also boring as hell. Plus, there’s that submissive tendency he recently discovered and is dying to explore. His complicated relationship with Noah and Indy don’t make it easy, either. When Connor shows interest in him, he can’t believe the sexy cop would look at him twice, let alone make an effort to get to know him. When he does, Josh discovers they have more in common than he’d ever thought possible.
Connor had survived the ordeal that left his best friend and fellow Marine dead, but that survival came at a price. He’s a robot, going through the motions, but barely alive. Until fate intervenes when he meets Josh. The vulnerable man triggers all kinds of protective and dominant urges in Connor, but what would a cute guy like Josh want with an inexperienced, closed-off, bossy steamroller like him?
When Connor discovers his past endangers Indy, all hope for a future between him and Josh seems lost. After all, there’s no way Josh will ever choose Connor over Indy’s safety and Noah’s lifelong friendship. When a crisis hits, can Connor prove he’s strong enough to deal with everything that’s thrown his way?
REVIEW:
This series and new author has definitely captured my attention!
Josh is a quiet man. He has endured some really horrendous things in his past. He was violently raped while serving in the military. Since he was sharpshooter/sniper, a really good one, he watched helplessly from afar while his best friend/lover was blown up. He and Noah have always had each other’s backs. The were friends-with-benefits but that was changing now that Noah had Indy in his life and his heart. It was time for Josh to give it a try but how could he possibly do that when he was so trapped by his PTSD? When Officer O’Connor came back to the house he was taken by surprise, something he doesn’t do well with. When the man wants to ask him out on a date he is overwhelmed and shuts down. When he discovers Connor, the name the cop prefers to be called, has left while he was “out of it” he realizes he has blown what might be his best and only shot at the gorgeous man. Josh then does the unthinkable. He goes to the police station to talk to Connor. “No Limits” is the continuing story of how Josh, Noah and Indy decide if they can let Connor into their fold.
Josh’s story is so sad and sweet. He fell for the boy that came to his protection when he was beaten and bullied as a child. He would follow Noah anywhere and do anything for the man he loved. But that love and co-dependency wasn’t good for either man. Any chance of a healthy relationship was doomed. Friends they would always be but it was time that he moved on. Indy was the one for Noah and he knew it was a good choice. When Indy had enlightened him on his submissive tendencies he researched it. Was he submissive? Yes he believed he might be.
Connor has had a pretty rough life. He was born into an evil family. He had enlisted in the Marines and had his best friend killed before his own eyes while they were held captive from a mission gone incredibly wrong. He also was living a secret life unknown by everyone…he was gay. He might not have deep scars on his exterior but the emotional scars ran deep. He was protective of those he cared for and love to be the one in charge. When Connor and Josh finally try to get to know each other it is obvious that they have chemistry. When Josh literally salivates over his monstrous cock he can’t believe how lucky he is. All the other guys had run in fear of his endowment but Josh looked like a kid in the candy store. This was going swimmingly until Noah and Indy came home unexpectedly. Noah believes someone is raping Josh. When all calms down it is Indy that is totally in fear. Connor, in the blink of an eye, figured out his identity!
I loved that the author brought in the need for some BDSM but did it responsibly and with thought. The fact that she had Connor seek out professional help was great. Josh needs his dominance but Connor wanted to do everything to not only give Josh what he needed but protect his man in the process.
I really liked the first book but this one I totally loved and can’t wait for more of these men’s story. Like I said in the first review, I thought I was getting someone else’s book and fell upon this brand new author. She had this wonderful ability to weave a story with all these situations interweaving. I love a good story about a broken hero and this one has four! I also thought this was a ménage storyline but it isn’t. Yes these men have crossed the line and three of the four have had sex with the others but that isn’t what this book was about. They are learning to draw from their significant other and build their strength from it.
I am so looking forward to the next book in this series. I know that we have been given a peek in but I am expecting a whole lot more. I am still fearful of Indy’s past catching up with these me. Great series and wonderful book!
Warning: there is some flashbacks to previous rapes/sexual assaults that happened in Indy and Josh’s past. These could trigger some readers.
