It sounds like the stupidest idea in the history of stupid ideas. Detective Inspector Josh Ingram wants to find a deadly medieval locket and through it, a murderer. So why does his boss decide to team him up with Matisse Vervein, a pop idol many consider just a pretty face… and expect the two of them to hunt down an art thief?
Marissa Godwin, Matisse’s no-nonsense manager, isn’t stupid. Neither is her brother-in-law, Detective Superintendent Tim Montgomery. Each is looking out for a lonely man on the verge of quitting what he does best, and both believe that their charges would make a great team.
The attraction sizzling between Josh and Matisse is hard to miss, but there’s plenty of resentment, too. Focused on pushing Josh and Matisse towards each other, Marissa and Tim haven’t imagined the kind of trouble a music star and a detective can find when they ditch their prejudices and accept that the attraction between them is mutual. Or how far each is prepared to go to prove it to the other.
REVIEW:
Undercover Star is a light, fun, sweet and heartwarming action adventure type of romance novel that will give you all the excitement and warm and fuzzies you need on a cold, rainy day. The cover is truly gorgeous and I am so happy it grabbed my attention right away. All you should do is to grab this book and a cup of hot chocolate and your perfect afternoon is ready to go.
We meet a hot police officer, Detective Inspector Josh Ingram (I know, quite a mouthful), who is looking for an art thief who might be able to lead him to his best friend’s murderer. When Josh meets an unexpected help in the form of a world famous pop star, his whole world turns upside down.
Matisse Vervein is a hardworking superstar musician who is kind, friendly and an overall great guy. He is in the closet and afraid to come out because he doesn’t want to lose his fans. He has also been struggling with the kind of music he is playing, so Josh brings a welcoming change into his world as well.
While working together these two get to know each other a bit and realize that a short time was enough to get under each other’s skin and moving on without each other might seem a bit painful and probably impossible.
The relationship is sweetly built, the emotions are palpable and we also get to know two completely different but equally fascinating worlds of detective work and stardom. Neither are easy jobs and we get to take part in some serious and exciting action scenes as well as some sweet, heartwarming and also sexy ones.
Josh and Matisse share a sweetly hot chemistry and they are truly cute together. The writing is solid with vivid descriptions and well written action scenes that kept my interest along the way. I had a great time reading it. Enjoy.
