BLURB:
John Sullivan is escaping to Denver. Even with a massive snow storm on his heels, he plans to hide away in his cabin in the mountains and ignore Christmas. It’ll be just him and a bottle of whiskey until the new year when he must return to Cincinnati for his best friend’s wedding.
At least, that’s the plan until he runs into Oz at the airport.
Oz … the man who should have been just a fling. The man who was fun and laughs but quickly turned into so much more before he completely kicked John out of his life.
Oz who desperately needs his help…
John is ready to leave Oz stranded at the Denver airport in the coming blizzard, but he finds himself possibly staring down at the reason Oz pushed him away, and John can’t say no.
Second chances don’t come around often, but John is willing to fight for one with Oz.
REVIEW:
A Christmas short from one of my favourite authors – how could I not?
If you read Jocelynn’s Christmas story last year, Walking On Thin Ice, you will remember meeting Spencer and Evan. This story introduces us to John and Oz and the link is that John and Spencer are best friends. The bonus here is that we get to check in with Spencer and see how his life has moved on since obtaining his HEA.
John is a character that tugs on your heartstrings. Family politics dictate that he spends each Christmas alone in the one place from his childhood that holds any happy memories. The lie about what he does every year has grown so big that he fears being honest with those he is most close to so the status quo remains the same.
Oz is a man in need. He needs immediate help for himself and his daughter when his ex messes up once again and he is left stranded in a snow storm. He ultimately needs help to see he can have a love life as well as look after his daughter, in fact if he was honest with the one man he fell for but then walked away from on the back of a lie he could have all his dreams come true.
Thrown together unexpectedly both men realise just how much they haven’t moved on but will a couple of nights together once again be enough to make them realise the time to stop running and hiding is over? A great second chance story full of festive feels.
