How can I do a blog post early November and not mention attending GRL in late October? For those who don’t know, GRL is a retreat for all those involved in Gay Romance Literature. And it was a special one for me because after all, I had the pleasure of meeting Dani, the lovely owner of Love Bytes!
Here’s Dani and I.
I’ve worked with Dani for years. She works tirelessly on getting reviews out to the public, spreading the word on our books to a market we might not otherwise meet. So to get a hug from Dani in real life was a highlight of GRL for me. The travelling, not so much. I know some people travelled further than I did, and I take my hat off to them. Given my inability to sleep on planes, arrival day and departure day were thirty-six hours long for me. Coupled with bouts of Chronic Fatigue, I’ve been home for a week and I’m still struggling with exhaustion.
But enough of that mundane stuff.
GRL is an incredible melting pot of readers, writers, reviewers, narrators, and bloggers. It’s a retreat where everyone in the community can come together to talk about what we’re there for. And that is BOOKS!!
As I said to a few people at GRL, there’s nothing quite like it. In our real lives, we can talk to our family and friends about our love of books and if yours are anything like mine, they’ll just nod and smile. But at GRL, they get it. Like, really get it. I feel at home with this people, like I’ve found my folk.
It’s something I’ve been truly blessed to visit twice. I’m not sure there’ll be a third for me. As much as I would LOVE it, I’ll need to reassess the dollars and time. Next year will also fall around the same time my daughter sits her end of year exams for Year 10, so that is a huge factor for me as well. Fingers crossed though! For those who might not have seen, here’s a photo of me at my GRL author signing desk 🙂
Now about those super sales and freebies!
My Turning Point Series are on super sale for just 99c per book. That’s right! Three books for three bucks! I finally got the rights back to Breaking Point, which means all three books are now back under my creative control. And what a better way to celebrate than with a sale! Please note the sale of ALL books is exclusive to Amazon, however Breaking Point is 99c at all sites.
Point of No Return (Turning Point, Book One)
Breaking Point (Turning Point, Book Two)
Starting Point (Turning Point, Book Three)
And if you didn’t know already, I released a FREE book before I went to GRL. Best of Both Worlds is not your typically written book. It’s a 20,000-word story told in 100 word chapters. This format is called ‘drabbles’ and is a unique way of telling a story. Given the limitations of 100 words exactly, each word needs to be chosen carefully. It’s free, so check it out! You have absolutely nothing to lose!
You can find it at the following sites:
And who wants a little sneak peak at my next release? Coming late November (I’m hoping for Nov 27th). Titled On Davis Row, it’s the story of CJ and Noah. A parolee and his parole officer… I mean, really, what could possibly go wrong? 😉 The gorgeous cover was made my Marianne at Nowicki Production, and it’s perfect for CJ. I can’t wait for the world to meet these guys!
Until next month! <3
OH fun! Thanks for your post! I look forward to On Davis Row very much!
