Fall is my favorite time of year. Of course I live in Arizona so fall is pretty much non-existent for me, but I love the idea of it! Our mornings and evenings are definitely cooler, and we can be outside more, even though the summer heat doesn’t completely dissipate until well into November. One thing I do enjoy are fall recipes. I wanted to share this, because it sounds amazing, and who wouldn’t love apple pie infused with Fireball whiskey? The next time I have an evening to myself, I’m totally making this.
Appleball Pie
- Fireball Whiskey (enough to completely immerse the apples)
- 8 fresh apples of your choice
- 4 tablespoons of butter
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2/3 cup light brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/8 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1/4 cup flour
- 1 refrigerated pie crust
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Peel and thinly slice the apples. Soak apples in Fireball, completely immersed, for at least four hours. Drain apples, reserving ALL the liquid. Some will be used in the pie, and the rest can be enjoyed while MAKING the pie.
Melt the butter in a large pan. Add the infused apples, the granulated sugar, the light brown sugar, the cinnamon and the nutmeg. Cook down for about ten minutes.
Add approximately one-half to one cup of the drained Fireball. Add 1/4 cup of flour, more as needed, to thicken the mixture.
Spoon filling into the crust, and top with a second crust. Follow traditional baking instructions 40 minutes at 350 degrees.
Enjoy!
I think this sounds delicious. If anyone makes this, please let me know! And feel free to share any of your favorite fall (or any time of year, as long as it’s your favorite) recipes in the comments. I’m always on the lookout for something new to try!
Happy Fall!
P.S. Fireball whiskey mixed with hard apple cider/beer is also fantastic. This one I’ve tried!
The pie sounds so good. Thanks for the recipe.
