It’s been a whirlwind couple of weeks for sure. No, make that a whirlwind few months. Youngest kid off to college, 25th wedding anniversary, back to back book releases, GRL and now… Hawaii (to celebrate that anniversary finally)! I can’t complain but I will say I’m extremely grateful for some time to take a deep breath on a beautiful island to recharge before the holidays begin. And before I release my first ever holiday novella. Woohoo!
Yes, you read that last line correctly! Leaning Into a Wish should be out just before Thanksgiving or the third week of November. The title gives it away. LOL. This short story is part of my recent San Francisco-based series, but the characters will definitely seem new. That’s all I’ll say for now. A little mystery is a good thing, right? Stay tuned for the blurb and cover reveal here at Love Bytes in mid-November.Thoughts on GRL…I loved every minute of it. Again. It was a challenge to organize myself beforehand and yeah, I freaked out that the numerous boxes I shipped to the hotel in advance wouldn’t be there when I arrived. You know, typical pre-con nerves. But the moment I landed in Denver and shared a ride with two friends and fellow authors, I let the worry go. And it just got better.Meeting up with old friends and new ones is simply priceless. The coffee breaks, quick bites in the hotel restaurant or a margarita or three… connecting with friends, readers, bloggers and sharing stories about books we love and pieces of our lives is so unbelievably rewarding. I tried to stretch myself and do things I hadn’t done in the past, like a reading from newest book, Leaning Into Touch… my first ever reading, by the way. They say that doing things that make your heart race is proof you’re living and not just breathing so I figured, why not? It wasn’t so scary after all. But I think that has more to do with the fact that I was among people who love this genre as much as I do. Ultimately, that’s what makes GRL a unique experience. Did I mention I got to give Dani a big hug after not seeing her for over a year and talk about possibly heading to Amsterdam next summer for EuroCon? Priceless…
Just in case you missed my countless margarita pics, I’ll post one here.
Happy Reading and Aloha! (I’m posting this from Hawaii!)
Lane Hayes is grateful to finally be doing what she loves best. Writing full-time! It’s no secret Lane loves a good romance novel. An avid reader from an early age, she has always been drawn to well-told love story with beautifully written characters. These days she prefers the leading roles to both be men. Lane discovered the M/M genre a few years ago and was instantly hooked. Her debut novel was a 2013 Rainbow Award finalist and subsequent books have received Honorable Mentions, and were winners in the 2016 Rainbow Awards. She loves red wine, chocolate and travel (in no particular order). Lane lives in Southern California with her amazing husband in a newly empty nest.
