AUTHORS: Jocelynn Drake and Rinda Elliott
PUBLISHER: Self Published
LENGTH: 232 Pages
RELEASE DATE: October 27, 2017
BLURB: Geoffrey Ralse is known for being the life of the party. He loves the club scene, hanging with his friends, and flirting with whomever catches his eye. He certainly isn’t going to stop living his life just because some would-be stalker starts sending him threats.
But it all changes when Geoffrey is drugged and wakes up half naked in his own home with a new message from his stalker.
He needs help and there’s only one person he trusts…
Protective Agent Sven Larsen has been fighting Geoffrey’s flirtatious advances for months, even though he’s impossibly drawn to the man. There’s no way he can be around him twenty-four/seven and not finally crack. But one look at Geoffrey’s haunted eyes, and he knows there’s no way he’s letting Geoffrey walk out of Ward Security without him.
Even if it means breaking his own rules, he will keep Geoffrey safe.
Trigger warning: There is a very short section with sexual assault that some could find upsetting.
REVIEW:
If you are a fan of the Unbreakable Bonds series, you will not want to miss this spinoff. If you have not read that series yet, I highly recommend you run right out and do so. Though this can definitely be read as a stand alone, we met these guys in previous books and there are ties that lead back to the various stories in that series. Having the background details will make this even more satisfying. This story takes place a few months after the end of Devour.
There is a lot more to Geoffrey than the cute twink who was crushing on Snow in his book, Shatter. More than the carefree guy who was always flirting with Sven during the self-defense classes Sven taught. But now Geoffrey has a stalker problem, and Ward Security employee, Sven, is the one he trusts and feels safe with, so he pleads with Rowe to put Sven on the job as his bodyguard.
This goes pretty much how you think it will where the guys are concerned. Sven wants to protect Geoffrey, but the mutual attraction is hard to resist when they are together nonstop. Sven resists for several reasons – he isn’t interested in being just another hookup, and he is afraid of hurting Geoffrey due to their size difference and some issues from Sven’s past. But Geoffrey doesn’t let up, and their connection grows as they learn more about one another. As things heat up with the stalker, everything takes on a different light for each of these guys. Things become more serious and real as the danger increases, and the intensity flows through to them as a couple.
This writing duo really clicks and really knows how to produce a solid story that is great on its own but also a comfortably fitting piece to the big puzzle. It has the same feel as the other stories with the same amount of fabulous dialog and delicious sexy times, yet it is clearly the beginning of its own series. Unbreakable Bonds is like a big company with each story making up a different component or department, Psycho Romeo feels like a new office opening up in a new city. There is definitely room to grow, but it also contributes to the original series. I can’t wait to see what’s in store for the next installment!
