REVIEW:
Lace is the first story in the A Material World series and we are definitely looking into some fun, kinky material. If you are a K.c. Wells fan you know what to expect. If you are new to this author you will get solid writing, well-written, hot sexy-time and great characters.
My favorite troupe is from best friends to lovers, so I really enjoyed this short story. Dave and Shawn have been best friends for more than a decade. They have a true friendship and as they allow it to happen some great chemistry.
The basic idea is pretty simple but the writer spiced up the story with some amazing kink you will definitely enjoy. As you might guess this particular kink has strong connection with the title and I really loved all the fun, sensual sex scenes.
I would have liked to read more about Dave’s newly-found bisexuality. A bit more about how he realized his new feelings would have been nice. Also his adjustment seems way too easy for me. I know this is fantasy but I missed the newness, the awkwardness in his actions while having his first sexual and emotional experiences with a man.
Also I find it a bit forced how they couldn’t talk out their problems. They are supposed to be friends for a long time and still they act like pouty middle-schoolers at times. I didn’t get it. They should have communicated more before storming off into the night. Luckily outside forces, namely Dave’s friend, Jake, and Shawn’s mom, talk some sense into them and I hope these two keep communicating and can live happily ever after.
Overall, this was a light, fun, sexy, entertaining short story and I can’t wait to read more in the series.
