Love Bytes says hello and welcome to author Tere Michaels joining us today to talk about the re-release of “The Heir Apparent”.
Tere also brought with her a giveaway for our readers!
Welcome Tere 🙂
After writing fifteen books over the past ten years, I can honestly say I am happy with the way they all turned now – now.
“The Heir Apparent” was an idea that sat with me for a long time before I even wrote the book originally. The secret relationship between two childhood friends – one the heir to a vast fortune, the other his drive/bodyguard – appealed to me on a dozen levels, from the emotional gold mine to the potential to play with suspense. When people are focused on their place in society/family, what would make them question their roles? Assumptions can cut us off from happiness – something Henry and Archie come to learn in a tense and scary way.
The first publication of “The Heir Apparent” four years ago, for various reasons it wasn’t the exact book I wanted. It was good but not good enough.
Having the chance to go back, add parts and smooth off the corners, was a real joy. This finally feels like the book I talked about and agonized over – the book I really wanted to write and share with readers. I hope you all enjoy the journey as Henry and Archie move past the boxes they’ve been placed in (and put themselves in!) and find that love really does conquer all.
Eventually.
To celebrate the rerelease of “The Heir Apparent,” comment below and someone will be randomly selected to receive ANY of my backlist of ebooks! Thanks for commenting and reading.
The heir apparent to a vast international company, Henry Walker has focused his entire life on pleasing his cold and distant father, a futile effort that’s left him no time for life, love, or making his own decisions. He has just one friend—one dirty little secret—Archie Banks. Raised on the Walker estate alongside Henry, Archie is now Henry’s driver, bodyguard… and occasional lover. Archie is loyal, but he’s about to graduate from college and has plans for his life that don’t include living every moment at the beck and call of Henry’s father. Not even for Henry.
With no warning, a shocking kidnapping leads to tragedy and chaos, thrusting Henry and Archie into a dramatic struggle that threatens them individually and as a couple. Can they find a way to heal the hurt of the past, save the company that is Henry’s birthright, and find a future together?

Tere Michaels unofficially began her writing career at the age of four when she learned that people got paid to write stories. It seemed the most perfect and logical job in the world and after that, her path was never in question. (The romance writer part was written in the stars—she was born on Valentine’s Day.)
It took thirty-six years of “research” and “life experience” and well… life… before her first book was published but there are no regrets – she doesn’t believe in them. Along the way, she had some interesting jobs in television, animation, arts education, PR and a national magazine—but she never stopped believing she would eventually earn her living writing stories about love.
She is a member of RWA, Rainbow Romance Writers, and Liberty States Fiction Writers. Her home base is a small NJ suburb outside of Manhattan – a city she dearly loves. She shares her life with her husband, a teenaged son—who will just not stop growing—and two exceedingly spoiled cats. Her spare time is spent watching way too much sports programming, going to the movies and for long walks/runs in the park, reading her book club’s current selection, and thinking about superheroes.
Nothing makes her happier than knowing she made a reader laugh or smile or cry. It’s the purpose of sharing her work with people. She loves hearing from fans and fellow writers, and is always available for speaking engagements, visits and workshops.
Congratulations on the re-release, Tere. It sounds like a really good book. I’ve always loved stories between bodyguards and their charges….

I haven’t read the first edition of this book, so I’m keen to do so now. Congrats and best wishes on the re-release of the book, Tere.
Congrats on the re-lease! This book sounds so good. mystery, suspence, kidnapping are among my favorites.
Congrats on the re-release! I haven’t read this book before; it sounds awesome!
I saw on Goodreads that the average review of the first edition was 3.55. A pretty good score! So if you’ve improved on it, that sounds like a definite reason to read this…especially since the plot sounds really good. I love the cover and the idea of them kidnapped together is especially appealing. I’m already wondering what Archie is getting his degree in and how (if at all) that will play into the story. May 5 stars be in your future!
I love this premise!
Sounds like a lot on the line. I would love to read more.
Congratulations on the re-release!
Congrats on the re-release!
