High tension meets laid back in a collision of opposites.
Grant Edgerton hasn’t had free day in years. From overachieving student to workaholic real estate developer in a high-pressure firm, he’s striven for success to the point of developing a stomach ulcer. When he literally crashes into a dog walker and his charges, it’s time to let loose the hounds of change. After failing to land a very important client, Grant takes an afternoon to play.
Max Thompson rolls through life’s curves with easy grace. Dog walking supplements his gigs as a musician, and he’s content with his easy come, easy go existence. He’s fluid to the point of not standing firm for anything, until an eye-opening encounter with an uptight businessman shakes his cool.
As lust stirs, then love grows, Grant begins to reevaluate what it really means to be successful in life. And as Max teaches Grant to chill, he learns some things are worth making an effort to hold on to.
REVIEW:
Chilling with Max is a light, fun, entertaining story featuring an easygoing, laid-back dog-walker/musician, a smart, hardworking workaholic real estate broker, a few lovable dogs of different variety and a true feline friend. This is a real opposites attract kind of read as our MCs are like day and night but they still find a common ground and form a tentative friendship that is based on their chemistry and some great talks.
I had fun reading about these two guys, how their chance meeting and lust at first sight (ok maybe second sight) changed both of their lives for good. Neither of them expected the sparks and the deeper connection that formed between them but as it happens in romances they just had to go with the flow.
The writing is solid, the story has a good pace and our MCs share some great chemistry.
I was happy to see how Grant’s life has changed and moved on for the better but I would have liked a bit more on Max as well. The story had great scenes and each of them added something to the overall feel and the whole plot-line.
The connection was well built and I really enjoyed that most of their intimate scenes were hinted and not spelled out in great details. We got the idea but never got bored with the repeated action.
Chilling with Max is another enjoyable story in the Love Off Leash series. If you are looking for a light, easy read with some lovely four-legged friends, a nicely forming relationship, give this book a try. Have fun.
