BLURB:
Andy Tyler has been the class daredevil since middle school. Over the years, he’s convinced his best friend, Jake Masterson, to perform some dangerous-looking stunts with him. But the dare they attempt on the night of their college graduation goes sideways. The firecrackers explode too soon and both of them end up with badly burned palms.
But hey, nothing gets the “terrible two-o” down for long, and they recuperate in style at Andy’s family cottage in Cape Cod. As the weeks go by, both Andy and Jake grow frustrated over the inability to use their hands for all sorts of daily activities–including getting off. So Andy begins a new series of dares that don’t just cross the friendship line, they obliterate it.
But what might be mere sexual relief to Andy is serious business to Jake, who only recently got over years of secret pining for his straight best friend. Inevitably, the burns heal, summer ends, and hearts are broken. To fix things, Andy will have to face the greatest dare of all.
REVIEW:
Ohmy… what can I say. I haven’t loved a story this much in years. I was a happy camper all the way and in true reader heaven till the last page. My heart is bursting with all the great feels and I am starting the book all over again as soon as I am done writing this review to experience the Andy and Jake Show one more time.
Five Dares is a light, fun, lovable story with minimal angst and true young love. Everything in this book was designed to my personal taste. I love the characters, their playful, true friendship, the amazing bond they have formed during their years together as well as their budding sexual discovery. This is my all time favorite troupe, the best friends to lovers scenario and it is executed to perfection here. Eli Easton is wonderful with words. I was laughing out loud many times but also felt all the gut punches and all the highs and lows throughout the story.
The structure of the plot-line gives an extra kick to the overall atmosphere. We get to see flashbacks of the past in Jake and Andy’s life woven into the present story-line. These episodes help us understand the depth of this amazing friendship and also gives a bit of a background story to the emotions and feelings we experience.
This is one of the most amazing emotional highs I have felt in the light, fun, sexual and emotional sense. There is a perfect amount of angst, not too much but it gives a little twist to spice up our emotions.
If you are looking for a few hours of light, sexy entertainment with true love added to the mix, this is a perfect book for you. Highly recommended.
