REVIEW:
Why I Love Bodyguards is a sweet, entertaining and heartwarming love story. This is a real feelgood read so if you wanna escape reality, this is a perfect book to dive in.
The Why I Love series contains standalone novels with reoccurring characters and this one was no exception. We meet Chuck and Herb from Why I Love Geeks and now I am heading over to read their story as well, as Herb is one of the most unique, adorable and lovable secondary characters I have ever read and I need to read his story.
So back to Cathal and Hilton. I really like these two together, but I do have some mixed feelings in connection with their story. On one hand, I had fun reading their journey. I really loved the parenting angle, and how they handled the family situation.
On the other hand I truly miss the relationship development. We have the moment they share their feelings and we get a bit of tension during the build up but those emotions are already there. I would have liked to read more about how those feelings developed. Their love was a given so the romance took a backseat and I wanted more. They share great chemistry and their connection is real but there were some confusing facts at the beginning in connection with their relationship. The way Cathal misjudged Hilton was a bit confusing. I mean they have worked together for 5 years already. It made no sense to me.
There are some other confusing and contradicting facts about Cathal’s feelings and his relationship with his boss as well as some other minor issues that bothered me while reading. Some episodes had no point, they didn’t go anywhere, neither did they add anything to the story.
Overall, I would say if you are looking for an entertaining, heartwarming read with a smooth love story spiced up with a few great kids, a bit of family issues, this is a good story for you.
