A warm welcome to author KC Burn who is visiting our blog today to talk about her newest release “Tea or Consequences”.
KC talks about Tea and brought with her a giveaway to participate in!
Welcome KC 🙂
Hello. My name is KC Burn and I have a tea problem… I love buying tea. I’m fussy about it, too. After writing a number of books where I have a few of my characters drink it, I finally let myself fully indulge in all things TEA. Of course, in Tea or Consequences, the character who is obsessed by it ends up getting murdered (and it’s possible my husband might be pushed to the brink some days) but it was still a lot of fun. I even got to order some extra samples for taste testing – I know I don’t much like oolong or lapsang souchong, but I needed to taste test to be able to properly describe it in the book.
So… as you should be able to see in the photo, I have a crapload of tea – and this doesn’t include the bulk bags in the cupboard that I use to refill my tins. Please make note of the Dammann Freres containers. Near my apartment, there’s an awesome brunch place, Russell’s. Omelettes, hash browns, pancakes, standard brunch stuff. I love a cup of hot tea in the morning, and the first time at Russell’s was no different. But the tea I got was fantastic. The menu mentioned the brand was Dammann Freres, from France. Shortly after that first visit, the hubby and I decided to go on vacation to France and one of the items on our itinerary was to hit one of the Dammann Freres locations.
Nirvana. It had modern lines, but still had the feel of an old time apothecary shop. The sample shelf, with oodles of “sniff testers”, extended the entire length of one wall. I ended up spending 140 euros and IT WASN’T ENOUGH. I also got a sample box that allowed me to try a few new to me flavours and some of them, like the peach green tea were soooo yummy. A couple of the basics are available from Amazon but the fun stuff isn’t, and I’m dreading the fast approaching day when I run out… how much is shipping from France? For a giant crate of tea?
Anyway, I hope you’ll check out Tea or Consequences, enjoy the tea, enjoy my geeky amateur sleuth Riley Parker, and have fun with both the mystery and his romance with homicide detective Tad Martin.
Blurb:
Riley Parker: temp, twink, geek… sleuth?
Maybe Riley isn’t living up to his full potential, but being a temp executive assistant suits him. He’s never bored at work, he’s got friends who let him geek out, and he’s got a carefully crafted twink exterior… which might be getting constrictive now that he’s on the other side of thirty. Life isn’t perfect, but it’s comfortable.
It all unravels when he takes a job working for a tea-obsessed cosmetics queen, the owner of Gautier Cosmetics. During the launch party for a new product, Riley finds his boss dead under suspicious circumstances, and the homicide detective is none other than Tadeo Martin, Riley’s high school obsession who never knew he was alive.
Tad drafts Riley to get the scoop on the inner workings of Gautier, and for Riley, it’s like a drug. His natural inquisitiveness is rewarded with more and more Tad. Unfortunately, his snooping puts him in the running for two other roles: suspect and victim. The killer doesn’t care which.
Tea or Consequences is available at Dreamspinner Press and Amazon.
KC Burn has been writing for as long as she can remember and is a sucker for happy endings (of all kinds). After moving from Toronto to Florida for her husband to take a dream job, she discovered a love of gay romance and fulfilled a dream of her own — getting published. After a few years of editing web content by day, and neglecting her supportive, understanding hubby and needy cat at night to write stories about men loving men, she was uprooted yet again and now resides in California. Writing is always fun and rewarding, but writing about her guys is the most fun she’s had in a long time, and she hopes you’ll enjoy them as much as she does.

Congratulations to your new release. I’m looking forward to reading your book.
Thank you!
This sounds so good…make mine a chai latte…light on the latte!
Love a chai latte!
Even though I’m more of a coffee geek, I do enjoy a good cup of tea (and the exotic packaging is always so fun)!
The packaging is fun 🙂
Congrats. You gave us all the T! (different kind of t, though). Your title made me fondly remember the highlight of my foray into acting. In college I played Tom in “Tea & Sympathy,” and was able to move people to tears. It was a different time, as the contrast with your tea story shows. Good luck with your release.
Thank you so much 🙂
Congrats on the new book. As a typical Brit I have to have milk in my tea. So all important question – milk first or last?
And as someone who is lactose intolerant… I don’t put milk in at all! Although my Irish grandma (who started me on 1/2 milk 1/2 tea when I was a toddler) would probably be horrified 🙂
Congrats on the release. I’m a huge tea fan as well, though I don’t know if my palate is that sophisticated. 🙂
LOL – I’d probably fail a blind taste test… I’m probably deluding myself, except for the lapsang souchong – no mistaking that! Tastes like campfire leavings, IMO
