The real action is off the court…
The only thing on Luke Rossovich’s mind is winning pro tennis tournaments. That is, until the day Jesse McAllister shows up in the locker room. Luke can’t get the young blond out of his head, and soon they team up on the doubles court. Before Luke knows it, he’s letting Jesse into his bed — and his heart.
Jesse doesn’t see why they have to hide who they are from the world, but Luke has been in the closet for years. He’s a household name with millions in endorsements to think about — no way is he going to admit to being gay. But as his secret relationship with Jesse deepens, the rules of the game Luke’s played so well suddenly seem to be changing…
REVIEW:
I’m not entirely sure, but I think this is the first I’ve read of this author and it was pretty good. I really enjoyed it. The characters are so real in this book and I love that.
Jesse was my favorite character in this book. As you meet him for the first time, you can tell he’s young. And inexperienced in ways. But he is incredibly sweet and ….. scrumptious is a good word I think. He is so bright eyed and almost innocent seeming. Even though he’s been in the world and seen things. But you can’t help but love him. He just….is. He is who he is and despite being hurt before, doesn’t care what people think of him. Sometimes it seems naive but when you think about it, it is so refreshing.
Luke is the one who is having such a hard time. He knows how cruel people can be and doesn’t want to come out of that nice closet for anyone. He already lost one man he loved due to an accident and even though he says he is ready for a relationship with Jesse, coming out is not an option he wants to even think about. But is he ready to lose the only man he has ever cared this deeply for? Luke is so lost and in turmoil and I feel bad for him. The meanness of people in this world is too much sometimes. All Jesse wants is to be with the man he loves and although Luke wants that too, he doesn’t want Jesse hurt.
I have to admit I cried, yet again, in this book. Yes I’m a crier, lol. Lots of tissues. There are several spots that just had me bawling. But what makes me cry the most is when people can’t just be themselves and love who they want to love because of ignorance and hatred. The love these two have is sweet and enduring and deserves to be allowed to flourish as it should be with anyone. And the chemistry between them sets them both sparking. It’s beautiful.
I hope you guys enjoy this sporty read! It’s ….beautiful and passionate and all those good adjectives! Plus, who can resist sexy men all sweaty with their shirts off from playing sports? Not me! *Winks* Happy reading!
