Once again, Julian Cornell is at the zenith of his career; not only have his designs helped the young men and women in the burn unit, he’s about to ink an exclusive deal with the hottest model for his new high-fashion menswear collection. Everything is perfect except his husband doesn’t understand how important it all is to him, and the model might want more than just to walk the runway in Julian’s clothing.
Nick Fletcher has never been the jealous type; he’s always been confident his place is right by his husband’s side. But now that Julian is about to re-launch his fashion line, Nick fears Julian might be sucked back into a world of beautiful people and wonder what he’s missed being married to a less-than perfect man like Nick.
Leave it up to two meddling friends who think they know best to arrange a hot date guaranteed to put the spice back in Julian and Nick’s marriage, enabling them to remember that what lies beyond the surface is a lifetime of love.
REVIEW:
I love these little look backs at story’s that I’ve read!
Julian and Nick were married in Beyond the Surface. Julian is a fashion designer and Nick is a firefighter. Julian had a career setback that completely devastated him, luckily Nick was there to help him pick up the pieces and move on.
Now Julian is about to hit the bigtime with his men’s wear, again and just like last time he tends to get engrossed in his work to the point that everything and everyone becomes superfluous! While Nick understands up to a point, but he can’t help being concerned about the way Julian is so focused on his work. It wouldn’t be so bad except that Nick has always been excruciatingly aware of what he considers his shortcomings, his scars from 9/11, and knowing that Julian is working with such beautiful people his insecurities are running riot.
Julian has no idea what is going on with Nick, as far as he’s concerned everything is perfect. His men’s wear line is about to be relaunched with the current hottest model as the face of it. It doesn’t occur to Julian to think about what Nick might think about the fact that the model happens to be the last man he slept with before his life went bust. Julian is so terrified of failing again that unknowingly he is neglecting his husband, his marriage and his friends. It’s not until Marcus points this out to him that Julian realises what he’s done but is it too late? Get your copy of Hot Date to find out if Julian and Nick work things out and get their happy ever after.
