Moving into a new home starts with a bang when Ryan Blackwell celebrates turning thirty. Being hungover means he’s bleary-eyed and clumsy the next day, but even in that state, he can appreciate how sexy and fit his neighbour is.
Matt Thomas isn’t looking for anything long-term—one and done is usually his life rule. Why settle down early, like his sister, when casual relationships are so easy? With Ryan living in the same building, chance encounters are inevitable. When one night together becomes two, a friends-with-benefits deal seems a natural progression.
There’s only one problem: sex with no strings relies on matching expectations, so Ryan can’t help worrying. His huge heart always wants more, but Matt’s been clear about his limits. As passion leads to caring, they’ll have to make some tough decisions—maybe this time, breaking some rules will be worth it if that means they’ll get to share a future.
REVIEW:
Lately I’ve been reading a lot of “friends with benefits” books. I don’t know what it is about the books exactly that draw me in but I am a sucker for them. Not to mention I love how Annabelle Jacobs writes. I go into her books knowing I’m going to learn a few things about the people across the ocean. Her stories always have me pausing and looking up words or phrases. I love it. I love how she writes…unapologetically British…!
New neighbors Matt and Ryan appreciate each other form a far. Matt is a commitment-phobe so he wants nothing to do with relationships. Ryan loves watching he hot neighbor Matt but he wants more. Both men decide on a ‘friends with benefits’ type deal and it all works out great for a bit.
As these things tend to happen both Matt and Ryan start developing feelings towards each other. Ryan is ready to embrace the something more but Matt is running scared.
Aside from Ryan and Matt being amazing characters the side characters are fantastic as well. I loved the relationship both men had to their best friends. I loved the bond…the fact that both Ryan and Matt had touchstones…people who knew them and had their best interest at heart. I like how both Matt and Ryan were in a relationship without realizing what they were doing. I like that aspect so much with friends with benefits story lines.
Annabelle Jacobs is a great author. Her writing style has really grown on me the more books I read of hers.
Overall this book was incredibly sweet with the perfect amount of heat, angst, a silver fox and passion.
Recommend.
