He promised to never leave me. But when I needed him the most, that was exactly what he did. Wilderness guide Xander Reed has spent fifteen years trying to forget the night he turned to his best friend in his darkest hour, only to find the young man who’d sworn to always have his back was turning his on Xander instead. Two thousand miles and fifteen years of building a new life in the quiet backcountry of the Rocky Mountains should have been enough to put the memory of Bennett Crawford out of his mind forever, but old wounds run deep and when Bennett suddenly reappears in his life as part of a wilderness expedition Xander is guiding, the scars he thought long healed break wide open.
REVIEW:
So, after having read the eBook version of Lost and Found, I was super excited to listen to the audiobook. Especially upon hearing that the extremely talented Michael Pauley was the narrator. If you have ever heard him narrate a Lucy Lennox book, you know exactly why I felt this way. And, as usual, Michael Pauley did not disappoint!
As children, Xander Reed and Bennett Crawford were inseparable until the day Xander’s father died, and Bennett literally closed the door on his best friend, and their friendship.
Fifteen years later, Xander is now a Wilderness Guide in the Colorado Rockies, when a different door opens and out walks an unwelcome blast from his painful past, aka Bennett. After spending all this time since the last time they saw each other, trying to erase the painful memories of that fateful day, they all come back to slap Xander right in the face. What’s worse is that they now have to spend an entire week in close proximity while taking a group of troubled inner city teens on a hike thru the Rocky Mountains.
As the hike goes on and the days fly by, the tension between Xander and Bennett continue to ratchet up and up, until it finally reaches a tipping point. Can they somehow revisit their past mistakes and rebuild a semblance of the relationship they previously had? What if they now want something more?
I loved the dynamics and relationship between Xander and Bennett. Their past friendship and subsequent heartbreak was palpable upon their first meeting, and I felt riveted with every word out of Michael Pauley’s mouth as he breathed life into the words written by Lucy and Sloane. You can feel the love the two men have for each other, even when their hearts were still broken.
Lost and Found by Lucy Lennox and Sloane Kennedy is a sweet, emotional friends to enemies to lovers story that will leave you cheering at the fact that it is book one of a series. Michael Pauley, your narration is, as usual, an absolute dream! I cannot wait to listen to book 2 in the Twist of Fate series, so hopefully it comes out very soon! Thank you for this absolute treasure of an audiobook.
