Enemies to Lovers.
Blade Carr and Wyatt Smith are bodyguards from rival agencies who can’t stand each other.
Blade is a younger omega who thinks, Wyatt, a slightly older alpha, is arrogant and disrespectful. Wyatt believes Blade is nothing but a cocky punk. But when Wyatt receives a death threat, his boss decides the last place anyone will look for him is at Blade’s house.
Both men dread spending time together and are shocked when, despite their dislike of one another, they are suddenly physically attracted to each other. When they give into their lust one night, Blade just wants to pretend the perplexing night of passion never happened, but when the younger omega discovers he’s pregnant, the two men are forced to form a closer bond as they try to find a way to come together for the child.
REVIEW:
Oh. My. Goodness. I laughed so hard I cried, then cried because of the absolute pleasure this book gave me. This is the first of S.C. Wynne I have read and I will never regret it. This book was beautifully written and just fantastic.
I don’t even know where to begin with this review. There’s so much I want to tell you about I could recite the whole book right now. But alas I can’t. Lol. So let’s see if I can give you a good description of the characters and what they are like. I am a lover of alpha/omega books so this was right up my alley. Blade and Wyatt had me laughing so hard at some of the snarky comments that would come out of their mouths. Until it got a little personal. For Blade more than Wyatt.
You see, Blade had a rough childhood. He was dropped off in a hospital bathroom the minute he was born and was raised with foster parents who could have cared less. (That made me cry because so many of our foster kids go through this.) Blade has a hard time with commitment. He has a hard time with love and someone wanting to care for him. He views softer feelings and having most emotions as weak. And Blade is far from weak. He is an omega, yes, but he’s tough. He’s a bodyguard, and has to be even stronger to prove he’s not weak as an omega as well. But Blade is special. And he’s about to find out why when he tangles with the one man he can’t stand more than anything, and the one he now has to protect.
Wyatt is an alpha who is old school. He thinks alphas should be top dog and omegas should basically bow and kiss their butts, so to speak. And he definitely has the attitude to match. Wyatt can’t stand Blade anymore than Blade can stand him. They loathe each other and having to be protected by this young ‘punk’ just eats at him. But his life is in danger and he has to suck it up. The wonderful thing about these two though is that after being cooped up in the same house together, their wolves are showing them that maybe the other isn’t so bad. And seeing as both of them think they are ‘straight’, it gets confusing and overwhelming. After one night of explosive passion and straight up f*cking, Blade gets pregnant and things begin to change.
I tell you this to show you how beautiful these two become. It makes me cry even now to think about how much they change. Wyatt feels something for Blade immediately and knows that things are now different. He becomes so soft and attentive when it comes to Blade. His alpha wants nothing more than to care for his omega. He views the man he once loathed as his now. And it scares him. But he pushes through. As snarky as Blade is to him, he keeps pushing gently and breaks those walls down. And soon realizes Blade hides behind the snark because he doesn’t know how to deal with what he’s going through. And it’s amazing to see how Wyatt caters to him. As much as he may want to do something simple as hug Blade, he keeps his hands to himself and gives comforting words. Anything to make Blade feel better and comforted and loved. Blade finally realized what it’s like to be loved and he opens himself up. And it’s such a full feeling. He feels whole finally. Like he belongs and he let’s his alpha care for him the way he needs to be.
I hope I haven’t given away too much, but I hope that I’ve intrigued you enough to read this book. It was amazing. It’s one of those that once you pick it up….you can’t put it down. Thank you to the author for such a beautiful read. Now I’m off to read book 2. Squee! See you soon!
