If opposites attract, nothing is more opposite than a tough human soldier and an omega wolf shifter cook.
A human soldier and an omega wolf shifter find out they’re mates in a world where segregation between humans and paranormals is standard operating procedure. Dylan Kole knows how to do one thing, and that’s to be a soldier in the human army. He doesn’t know how to fit in with a bunch of paranormal beings, and he certainly doesn’t know how to be a mate to Rudy Malone, the only omega wolf shifter on Roguefalls Island. One thing Dylan does have going for him is his ability to follow his instincts.
REVIEW:
In Human Instinct, humans live in family groups – (small towns) to survive you must belong to a family group. People who are not associated with a family group are called singles, singles are basically homeless people who have to become criminals to survive! Dylan Kole was banished from his family group by his father and the mayor because he come out as gay. Luckily for Dylan the sheriff gave him invaluable advice – join the human army rather than become a single.
Dylan had been in the human army for years when the order came that he and a teammate have to join the paranormal army on Roguefalls Island. Dylan isn’t happy to say the least, he has only had limited contact with paranormals, as in, he has only trained with and fought with them never has he socialized with a paranormal. When asked Dylan learns that even though the humans have known about paranormals for 150 years they have always been segregated but now he has to be the first human to live, train and fight beside paranormals.
Rudy Malone works as a cook in the canteen. Rudy also happens to be the only Omega wolf on Roguefalls Island. There are all sorts of paranormals living together on Roguefalls Island, vampires, demons, wolves, cheetah’s you name it they live there! For the most part, they all live together very peacefully. Unlike the human army, with the paranormal army all of the men and women have a choice, whereas the humans do as they’re told.
When Rudy meets Dylan he immediately knows he’s his mate but all Dylan has to go on are his human instincts which tell him to do anything to protect Rudy. To say the majority of the paranormals aren’t happy that their only Omega is mate to a human is an understatement!! Dylan goes through hell training with his team, he gets attacked because he’s human, because he’s mate to the Omega but he does earn a lot of respect when he beats a wolf shifter who takes offence to his status.
It takes quite a while before Dylan settles into life with the shifters and other paranormals but it takes a lot less to get used to being Rudy’s mate. It’s not easy for either of them, they have to fight all the prejudices Dylan has had drummed into him since birth and Rudy has to fight against his overbearing brothers. I encourage you to read Human Instincts as it put a completely different spin on a m/m shifter romance story.
