Welcome Patricia 🙂
Jarrett turned his face into Thayne’s neck, feeling the silky softness of his skin under his lips. He kissed the side of his neck, making his way up to a spot behind the ear. He breathed in, letting Thayne’s scent fill his lungs. When Thayne groaned, it came out sounding like a purr. Jarrett pursed his lips and set them on his stubbled cheek before opening his eyes. Thayne’s Bahama-blue ones were staring back at him.
“I felt him too, Thayne,” he whispered against his skin. “It’s like pure evil. I understand what we’re up against. I hate havin’ him here in the same state as you but let’s not make this bastard larger than life. He’s only a man.”
Thayne hugged him harder and Jarrett could feel the desperation in it. “I know. I know he is. I try not to build him up in my mind and make him more than he is but we’ve tried to end him twice now. Somehow, he just feels superhuman.”
Jarrett pulled out of Thayne’s hug and took him by each bicep, holding him at arm’s length as he frowned. “He ain’t. He’s just a man and we’re gonna end him. He ain’t gettin’ away this time. I promise.”
Thayne gazed at him, sadness filling his eyes. “You can’t promise that, Jarrett, as much as you want to do that, baby.” He kissed him long and slow and Jarrett melted into the warmth of the languid kiss. He wanted to take him to bed more than anything but sadly, that would have to wait. When he pulled back, Thayne’s voice was gravelly and low. “Come on. Mom has soup and we need to bring Galvez, Connor, Darcy, and your dad up to speed.”
Jarrett smiled. “Soup, mmm,” he hummed. “But I’d rather be in bed.”
Thayne winked. “There’ll be lots of time for that later, Jarrett.”
“I know. It’s jes…” Jarrett glanced down and then up at Thayne again. “I need ya to know that every minute I share with you is important.”
Thayne reached out and pulled him back into a hug and Jarrett put his arms around him, squeezing him hard and comforted by the fact that they had each other and that they were safe. This time when they pulled apart, Jarrett smiled sweetly. “Love you.”
Thayne leaned in and kissed him softly. “Love you too.” He only paused a second before he said, “soup.”
Jarrett sniffed the air and smiled. “Soup.”
They changed quickly, pulling on sweats. Neither one of them expected to be leaving the house again tonight.
Jarrett Evans and Thayne Wolfe have been partnered in the ATF for nearly two years and their love and commitment to each other has grown over time. Now faced with one final challenge, the boys are headed to Arizona to help Thayne’s mom, stumbling headfirst into a brand new case. When a man is shot on Dot’s sister’s ranch, their informal investigation leads to the Native American reservation bordering the property.
Juggling tricky tribal politics isn’t something Jarrett and Thayne are accustomed to but, as with most things in their lives, nothing is ever uncomplicated. When a surprise sighting shakes Thayne to his very foundation, they call out for help and their colleagues ride to the rescue along with a little help from the FBI. The mystery on the reservation only deepens when they start putting two and two together. Questionable cigarettes at the Ahtunowhiho Trading Post may be the least of their worries.
From the mean streets of Los Angeles to the vast deserts of Arizona, Thayne and Jarrett once again brave the minefields of bad guys, bigshots, and a vicious betrayal that kicks them in the ass. But one thing is certain. Thru thunder and lightning, Jarrett and Thayne are never alone. They’ll fight for each other down to the last man standing, even if it costs them their very lives.
