Some live on memories… Almost dying during a pack uprising has a way of shaking things up. I’m no longer Mr. Laid Back now that there’s an itch under my skin I can’t scratch. On a volunteer mission that goes beyond the walls of our compound, we enter the territory of a pack long thought dead, and find ourselves on the business end of their spears. What I’m not prepared for is what I find within their walls—The one shifter I never thought I’d see alive, the one I’d mourned twice, the one I’d always loved. He is alive, and if I have anything to do with it, he’ll stay that way. But he’s got secrets, and exposing them could lead us to an enemy worse than the bloodthirsty undead shifters wanting to kill us all…
First book in the series: Daring Fate (On sale for 99c!)
Inspiration is a funny thing. Because the end product of that inspiration can either be something totally different or a mish-mash of different ideas.
The inspiration for the Silver Tip Pack series is definitely a combination of inspirations as well as the need for me to challenge myself. I have been loving writing high stakes books lately—where the wrong choice could result in life or death. I’ve been a long-time fan of the Underworld movie franchise. Selene is an amazing character played by Kate Beckinsale, and I simply love the werewolves in this series. They are huge, and walk on two-feet, and are legitimately terrifying. Not that actual wolves aren’t scary, but I wanted something even scarier.
And in another vein, I love dystopians, always have. While publishing has been saying that dystopians are dead, I don’t really care. I’m a huge fan of Kit Rocha’s Beyond series, and the gangs who fight to survive. My thought—what if they were wolf packs? I wanted an enemy though, and not a government one. Add in my love of The Walking Dead and what did I have? A dystopian werewolf pack novel with zombie werewolves.
Because why not?
Writing a world that’s all my own has always been a goal of mine. In my Silver Tip Pack series, I have three types of beings—werewolves, who shift from human to four-legged wolf; Weres, who shift from human, to four-legged wolf, to a large upright wolf/human hybrid; and then Noweres, who are undead Weres, stuck in their hybrid form.
And I’ve only just begun. The first book in the series, Daring Fate, really only touched on this world. I expanded it some more in Chasing Destiny, and I can’t wait to let readers learn even more in future books. I have surprises in store, because the history that the wolf packs recite might be… a little unreliable. A lot happened when the virus wiped out humans, killed a lot of werewolves, and turned a lot of my upright Weres into the undead.
So yes, I have more books planned in this series, I’m not sure how many yet. I plan to keep writing as long as my werewolves keep talking to me. And right now, they are chatter boxes.
