Tobias “Mas” Maslin doesn’t need much. A place of his own, weekends of clubbing, a rich boyfriend for love and support. Too bad his latest sugar daddy candidate turns out to be married with kids. Mas wants to be special, not someone’s dirty little secret.
When he loses his job and his flat on the same day, his worlds starts unraveling…until he stumbles across a vintage clothing shop. Now to convince the reclusive, eccentric owner he’s in dire need of a salesman.
Perry Cavendish-Fiennes set up Cabbages and Kinks solely to annoy his controlling father. Truth be told, he’d rather spend every spare moment on his true passion, art. When Mas comes flaming into his life talking nineteen to the dozen, he finds himself offering him a job and a place to live.
He should have listened to his instincts. The shop is already financially on the brink, and Mas’s flirting makes him feel things he’s never felt for a man. Yet Mas seems convinced they can make a go of it—in the shop, and together.
REVIEW:
If you haven’t bought book #1, Junk, yet, don’t read this review and run to get it. If you have, then you were hopefully like me and excited to see quirky, flirty little Mas get his own story. And what a story it is! Full of snark, love, and eclectic personalities.
As the book opens poor Mas has gotten into a pinch. He’s lost his job due to some things caught on tape. As he is trying to escape the security guards and get home, he runs into a little vintage shop and meets Perry. When he finally gets home, he notices he’s also being evicted. So jobless and homeless, Mas has just about lost hope. But he comes up with a plan to get a job and a home in one shot. Poor Perry won’t know what hit him.
Mas is a truly sexual being and Perry is very prim and proper. The chemistry between these two is actually comical in spots because Perry is supposed to be straight for one, and two he doesn’t really know what love and relationships are. Mas wears his heart on his sleeve. He desperately wants someone to love and accept him as he is. Drama queeniness and all. As the book goes along, Mas becomes the partner in the store and the relationship with these two grow. With any relationship there are ups and downs and lots of work, but the work is worth it if you are invested and these two are. Perry learns many things about himself, being gay is one. He feels things for Mas he has never felt for anyone. Mas is just as in love but so insecure underneath all the flirting. So both are fumbling along trying to learn each other and what it takes to stay together. Sometimes you want to slap them both in the head and other times you can’t help but say awwwwwwwwwwww. But the sweet thing is they are growing together. The chemistry also grows in the bedroom. One look from Mas and Perry melts. And Mas is teaching Perry to be a little more open with things and not so prim and proper.
I love this series overall. I just took a sneak peek at the blurb for the 3rd book and there is definitely a surprise on who it is about. This series and this book take you from one extreme to another with emotions and it is a beautiful and wonderful ride. They make you want to sit in front of a fireplace and never put the book down. I’m excited to see how book #3 goes. I hope you all enjoy these as much as I have.
