BLURB: Some live on memories…
Almost dying during a pack uprising has a way of shaking things up. I’m no longer Mr. Laid Back now that there’s an itch under my skin I can’t scratch.
On a volunteer mission that goes beyond the walls of our compound, we enter the territory of a pack long thought dead, and find ourselves on the business end of their spears.
What I’m not prepared for is what I find within their walls—The one shifter I never thought I’d see alive, the one I’d mourned twice, the one I’d always loved. He is alive, and if I have anything to do with it, he’ll stay that way. But he’s got secrets, and exposing them could lead us to an enemy worse than the bloodthirsty undead shifters wanting to kill us all…
Book 2 in The Silver Tip Pack series by Megan Erickson is just as explosive and consuming as book 1 and wouldn’t work well as a standalone. This is very much a continuation of the story even though it features a new couple but rest assured Bay and Nash’s story is right up there with Reese and Dare’s story.Megan Erickson has brought a dark reality to the shifter genre and it works really, really well. There isn’t quite so much blood and gore in this one but there is still plenty of action where the Nowere’s are concerned and there is also evil amongst their own and that evil has impacted hugely on Nash. It helps explain where he has been for all these years but it doesn’t begin to explain the why and the why is what keeps Nash living in fear and wanting to run and hide. Secrets, so many secrets.
Bay’s discovery of Nash is both joyful and painful. Unable to believe he has found his friend and the man he loves he can’t help but ache and rage at whoever has damaged him so much. Helping him return to good health is almost the easy part – helping him face his past and come out stronger at the end almost seems impossible. Nash seems to want to run away at every turn but Bay is determined to never lose him again. When they finally come together it’s explosive, hot and near perfect and the surprise ending – didn’t see that coming at all!
The story is clever, well thought out and leaves the author with loads of exciting options on how to continue. I was equally frustrated with wanting to finish this story and never wanting it to end. Silver Tip Pack is an absolutely superb series and I cannot wait for book 3!
This was a fabulous follow up to Daring Fate, which you absolutely must read before this one. That first book sets up the world and the characters involved, and it was pretty awesome, so definitely recommended. When we left off there, Dare had gotten word that Reese’s old pack had survived, and Bay (Dare’s brother) was leading a mission to get some answers. He ends up finding much more than he ever expected.
Dare finds Nash, his childhood love whom he thought was dead. Nash disappeared when they were kids, only to be found again by Dare and Reese when they attacked the compound/pack that was holding Reese and his siblings. On the way back home, Nash sacrificed himself for Dare and his crew by leading the Noweres away to enable Dare and the gang to continue on. But Nash had a secret or two and while he was happy to be reunited with Bay once again, he was holding back. It takes a while for him to come clean about everything, but Bay never gave up.
These two have had so many things happen to each of them, and they have a lot of healing to do, on their own and as a couple. They clearly share a mate bond that is finally allowed to culminate and has only grown stronger after so many years. Nash has trouble thinking about a future when he has had to live in survival mode for so long and has had to endure a lot of evil treatment in one form or another, but once things are out in the open and another successful mission is in the books, they are good to go. I still foresee some bumps and bruises in their future but have no doubt they will remain strong.
When they are all reunited at the Silver Tip Pack compound, it is easy to see the bonds regrow and how being surrounded by people who love and care about him start to heal Nash. Of course, it was great to see Dare (in all his alpha glory) and Reese, Jude and G, etc. This continues to be a creative world that is evolving a bit as it goes along. It isn’t as clear this time around who the story will focus on next, though I’m hoping it is Vaughn and maybe Pace? Either way, I definitely recommend this as an exciting, well-written paranormal series that should not be missed.
