BLURB: TWINS DISCOVERY A FORBIDDEN LOVE.
When Gavin and Bain Murphy go off to film school, they soon learn that their feelings run deeper than just brotherly affection.
This story begins with twins Gavin and Bain reuniting to attend film school. They are somewhat famous in that their parents are celebrities with his father being a well-known author. Their parents were pretty much focused on themselves, so they spent much of their childhood on their own which only strengthened their twin bond.
Bain is gay but believes his brother is straight. He has hidden his feelings and tried to focus on their goal of becoming film directors together. Gavin, on the other hand, has hidden his secret of being gay and having feelings for Bain, going so far as to leave home to spend a year in England. Eventually, the jealousy and possessiveness takes over and they are forced to confront their feelings.
Meanwhile, others in the school have brought Gavin and Bain into their clique which has added a little mystery to the story. Their leader seems pretty shady and, in fact, does some pretty shady things, especially where Bain is concerned. But, again, this is what has also helped Gavin and Bain take that next step in their relationship.
This was not nearly as taboo or as dark as I was expecting. Yes, they are twins (which is emphasized quite a bit), but it takes a while for them to actually do anything together. I think my biggest issue here was believing in them as a couple, which started with their first time together. Bain was a total virgin – barely been kissed. So, I was expecting a more involved “first time” than what we got. When it did happen, it was almost like a slip up which quickly turned to a slip out, and that was it. There was a noticeable lack of build up or prep. I tried to chalk it up to them being bumbling teenagers, but I was definitely hoping for more.
With this being the first of the series, I’m hoping we will learn more about these two and their family, plans for the future, etc. There were a lot of unanswered questions at the end which added to the mystery, but I feel like I really don’t have much of an idea about where this story is going. I’m definitely curious to get to the next installment and see how it all plays out.
