REVIEW:
This was a great start to a new series. It was short but it was not lacking.
I really loved the world this author is setting up. The beings were interesting and the lore promises to be grand. I loved what I learned so far about Morric and Xavier and am eager for more.
The plot wasn’t grand, but that was OK because this was mostly a setup for the series and a well presented instant mating. I never questioned Xavier and Morric together because it was set up nicely and explained fully. It even had times of tension and uncertainty to temper the fated mate idea.
The imagery was great too. I could really visualize the creatures and the caves even without long flowing paragraphs and descriptors. It was really cleverly done.
But I think the thing I loved the most about this story was the ease at which the author presented the emotions so that I could connect with and feel them myself. The flirting made me laugh, the tension made me hold my breath, and the seriousness made me sit on the edge of my seat waiting to see how everything turned out. It was well done!
I recommend this short novella if you are interested in a fantasy story that will make you smile and leave you wanting to revisit this world over and over. I am soooo eager for the next installment!
