BLURB:
Scotty Reedville has had his office job for two years, long enough to fall for Ryker Callen, head of the landscaping crews. It’s ridiculous, really. How could he fall for someone so completely his opposite in every way? Answer: he couldn’t help it. Still, Scotty would never make a move because he doesn’t think Ryker would go out with a guy who wears braces and snaps at everyone.
However, when Ryker is injured in a softball game one weekend and needs a place to live temporarily that doesn’t have steps, Scotty’s boss Gavin suggests he stay with Scotty. The time they spend together is both the best and worst thing that has ever happened to Scotty, and he doesn’t want it to end. But it must.
Thankfully, Ryker has other plans. Can the two men stumble their way to love?
REVIEW:
The Things We Do is the definition of short and sweet. J.D. Walker has given us a book with a happily ever after and a nice journey to get there.
Scotty Reedville has had a crush on Ryker Callen as long as he has worked for Gavin Chang’s Landscaping business. But Scotty doesn’t think his long lanky body, snarky attitude, braces and curly hair will attract the good looking man.
What is really nice about this book is that we see it from Scotty’s perspective. And we get to understand why he doesn’t take several opportunities presented to him. The journey for the two MCs is very good. It is a story that has a nice level of believability to it. Their boss’ part the book is probably my favourite bit.
Due to its length there isn’t a lot of depth to the characters or any subplots. But what you do get is plenty to relate to and enjoy. I would have liked to see a little more length and depth. However if you are looking for a good read for your lunch break, this short book will provide you with a nice warm and happy feeling for going back to work.
All in all this is a cute, fluffy and happy little story. I finished it with a warm fuzzy feeling.
