BLURB:
Jason Miller is still in the closet. He’s never found a reason to kick the door open, walk into the light of day, and tell the world he’s gay. At least that’s what he keeps telling himself — along with a multitude of other solid arguments. As an ad man, he’s used to hawking a bill of goods, he just never imagined he’d fall victim to his own hype.
When ex-activist/coming out guru, Chad Wellington came along, he was the one thing Jason never saw coming. Like a moth to a flame these two opposites ignite leaving Jason to decide if he can handle the heat.
REVIEW:
I am often reminded in life that things take work and sacrifice, love especially. And sometimes those sacrifices become necessary when we least expect them.
Jason, as mentioned in the blurb, is a closeted man, and he’s not coming out for anything. Or so he thinks. He has that door locked shut and bolted. He goes on a weekend trip with some of his friends where he meets a man who will change his life. Chad is a beautiful man that Jason wants to get to know intimately, but after running his mouth he thinks there is no hope for him. However Chad is still intrigued. Over the next few months, they grow closer becoming boyfriends, but soon that locked door is becoming too much and Jason has to make a decision.
Fear will often cripple us into missing out on opportunities in life. Fear is what kept Jason firmly rooted where he is. He is afraid no one will accept him the way he is. As humans, no matter what the situation, we want love and acceptance. But being fearful of what someone thinks does nothing but ruin whatever good you can get. Life is meant to be lived freely and with someone that makes you happy and that is the lesson Jason has to learn before it is too late. Chad tries to hang on to Jason for as long as possible, but he doesn’t want to live in a closet. He wants to be out with his partner. The chemistry between the two of them is amazing. And neither want to lose the other because of it. They just feel so right together. The sex between them…well let’s just say you don’t want to put the book down and if you are like me you might reread it a few times before moving on, lol.
Chad was a character I really enjoyed. Even though Jason was going through a hard time being in the closet, no one realizes how hard it is on the significant other. Chad’s strength kept Jason together and kept him going. Chad’s love made Jason want to be better for himself and for Chad. I like Chad’s character because no matter how hard it got he still kept trying to hold it together and keep them on track. It takes a lot to do that. Because sometimes you feel like you are in the relationship on your own.
This book is a good lesson for people. Don’t be afraid to love and be who you are. Don’t let fear hold you back from becoming alone and miserable. Take a chance. Be yourself no matter what people think. And most of all be happy.
