From Bestselling Authors Sloane Kennedy & Lucy Lennox comes an exciting new series about how a twist of fate can change everything…
He promised to never leave me. But when I needed him the most, that was exactly what he did…
Wilderness guide Xander Reed has spent fifteen years trying to forget the night he turned to his best friend in his darkest hour, only to find the young man who’d sworn to always have his back was turning his on Xander instead. Two thousand miles and fifteen years of building a new life in the quiet backcountry of the Rocky Mountains should have been enough to put the memory of Bennett Crawford out of his mind forever, but old wounds run deep and when Bennett suddenly reappears in his life as part of a wilderness expedition Xander is guiding, the scars he thought long healed break wide open.
I’d only ever wanted to protect Xander from getting hurt again. I never considered the one he needed protection from was me…
Bennett Crawford was faced with an impossible choice the night his best friend needed him.
He chose wrong.
As the only son of one of the wealthiest families in New England, he should have had the world at his feet, but losing his best friend at the tender age of fourteen changed everything. And even though Bennett’s managed to hide behind a mask of contentment as he takes his place at his father’s side in the family business, inside he’s searching for the piece of himself that’s been missing ever since Xander Reed walked out of his life. Bennett’s only saving grace is his work with a group of inner city kids, and when he’s given the chance to show the troubled teens that there’s a bigger world out there waiting for them if they just have the courage to reach for it, he takes it.
But when he steps off that bus for what was supposed to be a week of fun and adventure, he’s instantly returned to the past when he discovers their expedition guide is none other than the boy he let go so long ago. Only, the soft-hearted, insecure little boy Bennett once knew is gone, and in his place is a brooding, bitter man who isn’t interested in second chances.
People leave. I know that now and nothing Bennett has to say to me will change anything…
All Bennett wants is another chance to show Xander that friendship was only the beginning. But when a stubborn Xander refuses to even hear him out, Bennett realizes he’s going to need to fight dirty.
Because now that he’s found Xander again, he’s not letting him go a second time…
CHRISTIE’S REVIEW:
Don’t you love it when two phenomenally talented authors team up and write a book together? Well, I sure do. Pretty sure that when Lucy Lennox and Sloane Kennedy announced that they had written a book together, people on the other side of the world could hear my squeals of excitement. Then I got my hands on said book, and the world simply fell away while reading it and getting lost in Lucy and Sloane’s beautiful world.
As children, Xander Reed and Bennett Crawford were inseparable, practically joined at the hip. Until the fateful day when Xander’s father died, and Bennett closed the door on his best friend. And, their friendship.
Fifteen years later, Xander is now a Wilderness Guide in the Colorado Rockies, when a different door opens and out walks an unwelcome blast from his painful past, aka Bennett. After spending all this time since the last time they saw each other, trying to erase the painful memories of that fateful day, they all come back to slap Xander right in the face. What’s worse is that they now have to spend an entire week in close proximity while taking a group of troubled inner city teens on a hike thru the Rocky Mountains.
As the hike goes on and the days fly by, the tension between Xander and Bennett continue to ratchet up and up, until it finally reaches a tipping point. What happens when Xander and Bennett finally confront each other about that fateful day fifteen years ago? Will the air be cleared between them? Can their friendship somehow be rekindled?
Lost and Found by Lucy Lennox and Sloane Kennedy is a sweet, emotional friends to enemies to lovers story that will leave you cheering at the fact that it is book one of a series. This book was everything and I highly recommend you read it as soon as you can. Well done, Lucy and Sloane! I cannot wait until book two comes out.
CINNAMON’S REVIEW:
Lost and Found is the first book in the Twist of Fate series and the very first cooperation between Lucy Lennox and Sloan Kennedy. I think these two writers have a great writing chemistry and if we take this story as a baseline we are in for a fun, very entertaining series. This book is a real page turner with lots of emotions, great adventures and enough excitement to keep you reading on and on and on till the last page. I simply couldn’t put it down and I can’t wait to get my hands on the next book.
They say you never forget your first love. Some never get over theirs either, just like our MCs.
Xander and Bennett’s love story is a very emotional, heartbreaking and heartwarming journey. It’s a best friends to enemies to lovers kind of read with all the emotional baggage imaginable. Our MCs share some amazing chemistry and their scenes are very sensual with lots of seriously hot sexy-time. The emotional obstacles they need to overcome have been building for fifteen years so they have their job cut out for them and the risk is high. The tension between them and their feelings are palpable, their inner struggles are real and well written. Sometimes the miscommunication and the assumptions were a bit too much for my taste but I accept that this level of excitement and angst is necessary for most readers. Luckily everything I didn’t care for at the beginning got cleared up and we got all the explanations and self-discovery we needed.
I adore all the secondary characters. We get some unique personalities that add some spice to the story and a few twists to the plot-line. The set is adventurous and very well portrayed, it’s clear that the writers did their research well. The plot-line has a gripping structure, always adding an extra layer, a new piece of information or turn of events to keep our attention and keep us on our toes.
I truly enjoyed this journey and I can’t wait to read Aidan’s book.
