Thank you Love Bytes for having me on the blog today! Today is my fourth stop on my Runaway Rock Star Road Blog Tour! Join me as I hit the road—I’m going to be visiting some great blogs, sharing background about the book, about Ohio, and there may also be a fun interview with Lucas and Brandon along the way.
The stops are listed below and any posts you comment on during the tour will enter you for a fun prize pack at the end that includes a $20 GC to the eBook retailer of your choice.
Runaway Rock Star is a part of the States of Love series from Dreamspinner Press. A little background on the series for those who may not know what it is, the States of Love series is a series with one book about each state in the United States, all written by different authors.

So this is such a strange coincidence but as I pulled over into the next rest stop on my way here to Love Bytes, you’ll never guess who I ran into? Lucas and Brandon! If you haven’t read the book yet, would you like to meet them? Come on let’s go!
When I pulled up to the gas pump I almost didn’t recognize Lucas, he was wearing his typical trucker hat and sunglasses disguise. Today’s hat had “I love Ohio” embroidered on the front.
“Fill er up, ma’am?
I turned around and stared at the tall man warily.
“C. J., love, it’s me!” He bent and whispered in my ear. As soon as I heard the familiar British accent, I squealed and threw my arms around him.
“Lucas! What the heck are you doing here?”
“We are on our way to the Wilds! Have you ever been?”
“I have not,” I said.
“It’s this wild open safari place. Like Lions, tigers and bears—”
“Oh my,” came the flat, exhausted response from Brandon, who was now standing outside of his Jeep.
Lucas gave him an annoyed look. “Ha, ha,” he deadpanned before turning back to me. “Anyway, there are all of these wild animals just roaming around this wildlife area…right here in Ohio!”
I chuckled. “Yes,” I motioned to his hat. “You’re really liking Ohio, I take it.”
“It’s awesome!” Lucas crowed.
Brandon rolled his eyes.
I smiled sympathetically at him. “Did he hijack you for another road trip?”
“Another?” Brandon exclaimed. “It’s every week! He finds somewhere else he thinks we need to go to, and off we go! I’ve seen more of this state than the entire time I’ve lived here!”
Lucas waved his hand in Brandon’s direction. “Pay him no mind. He loves it.
So my lovely C. J., we were going to grab some food at Mickey D’s here, why don’t you join us?”
“Uh…sure, why not? I’ve got time.”
“Great!” he crooked his arm through mine and walked with me to the nearby restaurant, chatting the whole way.
Once inside Brandon pulled me away from Lucas and pushed me gently toward the counter. “Go order, before Lucas does and there’s still food left.”
Lucas protested and he and Brandon started sniping playfully at each other.
I rook my tray over to a table and sat down. Soon Lucas and Brandon followed, Lucas carrying a tray filled with a pile of sandwiches and fries. Brandon pulled two wrapped cheeseburgers and one box of fries off the tray for himself. Lucas, started in on the pile of sandwiches that were left.
“When did you last eat?” I asked incredulously.
Brandon looked at his watch. “He had three doughnuts a couple of hours ago. Oh and we had breakfast at Bob Evans an hour before that.”
Lucas looked from me to Brandon and back to me again, his cheeks puffed out as he chewed. “Wha?” he mumbled around his food. “I’m starved!” he gulped before speaking again. “Road trips make me hungry!”
Brandon rolled his eyes. “Everything makes you hungry!”
I chuckled.
It was quiet for a few minutes while we all ate. Finally Lucas spoke. “So, Miss C. J., where are you travelling to today?”
“I’m off to Love Bytes. I’m touring a bunch of blogs, promoting our book.”
His eyes looked bright and intrigued. “Really? Our book is out?” He elbowed Brandon. “Did ya hear her? Our book!” He looked back at me. “So are we number one yet? Bestseller? Probably the fastest selling book ever, right?”
I laughed. “Well…I don’t know about that. But we can only hope people like the book and want to buy it.”
He frowned, then shrugged. “So these blog things? What are they all about?”
“Well, it’s a promotional tour. Sort of like how you tour, with the concert as your main promo gig and then the interviews you do along the way as extra promotion.”
He looked thoughtful for a bit, then nodded. “Cool.”
“How have you guys been?” I asked. The both glanced side-eyed at each other quickly before answering.
“We’re good,” Lucas said. “Just hanging out. Chilling.” He was tight-lipped and didn’t seem to want to say much.
“Are you working on new music?”
That lit his whole face up. He fidgeted and sat up straighter in his chair. “Oh man! SO much new music! It’s amazing, like I can’t stop writing.”
“That’s good to hear! Are you going to record it? Put out an album? Tour?” I asked.
“Yeah eventually.” They side-eyed each other again. “The business stuff is…complicated right now.” Lucas said wearily. Then he leaned back with a grin and stretched his arm out behind Brandon’s shoulders. “But this one here’s going to be a big help! And then we’re totally going to rent a van, and tour all over, just him and me, doing it old school you know? Driving ourselves and being our own road crew—“
Brandon groaned. “Another road trip. And what’s this “our” thing? The “road crew” is totally going to be me, and you know it!”
They bantered back and forth for a while and finally I told them I had to get going if I was going to make it on time.

Just hours before Brandon Harris is supposed to head home to Cincinnati for a Labor Day family picnic, his boss at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame forces him into giving a private tour to bratty British pop rock star Lucas Black. Before he knows it, he finds himself swept up in a whirlwind road trip through Ohio with Lucas riding shotgun.
Lucas grabs hold of this wild opportunity to run away—even for a few precious days—from the gilded cage that is his carefully managed life. He’s just looking for a little fun and freedom as a normal person. From roller coasters to a college football game, Brandon begins to see the real Lucas Black buried under the famous persona. But by the time he and Lucas discover their mutual attraction, they only have one night left before both of them have to go back to their real lives. The fun is over…unless Lucas can run away for real this time and keep their adventure going.

C.J. Anthony grew up watching soap operas and reading piles of books. She attributes her love of reading and romance to her mother, who not only taught her to read but also made countless trips to the library lugging piles of books home for her. It wasn’t a far jump to start writing her own stories, early childhood tales about flower families and traveling to the moon with her best friend.
C.J.’s favorite stories to read and write include “opposites attract” pairings—couples who appear to be an odd couple to the rest of the world, but fit together perfectly, finding their own happily-ever-after with a little hard work and a whole lot of love.
Not surprisingly, C. J. is a big lover of rom coms—she’ll gladly take Julia Roberts standing in front of Hugh Grant asking him to love her over car crashes and shoot-em-up movies any day. She also watches way too much TV and every singing reality show there is. She loves music of all genres and attending live concerts.
She spends most of her time juggling a day job and a commute and freelance and falling asleep on her couch, dreaming of a day when she can write all day in her pajamas while living in a house by the beach.

Congratulations on the release. The book sounds great, and I do love that cover. It is so cute!
Isn’t the cover awesome? I was thrilled with what the cover artist did. Thanks for commenting susana!
Thanks for the post. I had to look up where The Wilds is at because I’d never heard of it. Probably because it’s in southern Ohio & I’m in the north.
Lisa, I have to admit, I’ve never been to the Wilds either but it sounds interesting. Thanks for commenting!

Congratulations on your release. I read this one and I LOVED LOVED the road trip!! All those visits made me want to be there 🙂
Oh thank you Ami!! I’m so glad you enjoyed it! 🙂
Oh my goodness…I grew up watching soap operas and reading books too. Lol I used to spend all of my allowance on Scholastic books, then I developed an obsession with sci-fi (still love sci-fi and paranormal)…then, I discovered Harlequin Romances when I was about 12 or so. This was way back when the characters almost never had sex unless they were married…
Geez…I’m rambling!

Hi bea! Thanks for commenting, Ha ha! I love that you watched soap operas too! I don’t think my mom ever thought a thing about exposing me to them…these days, it would be bad parenting to expose your kids to them! LOL
I remember Scholastic books too… and then discovering the teen Harlequins when I got older. 🙂
I know, right? Somehow the love scenes in the soaps now are nowhere near as steamy as they were when I was a kid. Or at least it seems that way. Lol
Of course there aren’t that many left. I loved All My Children and One Life To Live but of course they were cancelled. General Hospital I still watch and Days Of Our Lives is still on but I haven’t watched that one in years.
Congrats on your new book. I’ve enjoyed reading books in the series so far. Really looking forward to giving this a read.
Thanks for commenting H. B. It’s a great series, I hope you enjoy the book.
I wish I was on that road trip too.
Me too! thanks for commenting Jillian! 🙂
Congrats on the new release. A road trip around the US is on my bucket this and the States of Love series are providing great inspiration. Now I just need to win the lottery in order to afford to do it
Hi Jess! My BFF wants me to do a trip out west with her some day…it will have to be when we win the lottery too! 🙂 Thanks for commenting!

Happy Mother’s Day, C.J.! I hope that you’ve had a great day and that you have a great week. I think that I mentioned in an earlier comment how much I love this book cover! I just love rock star romance and I’m really looking forward to reading this story. In fact all of the 50 States titles that I’ve seen so far look really good.
Did you and the other authors have to collaborate with each other at all about who was doing what type of story or anything like that?

Congrats on the new release, C.J. Taking a road trip through the US is a long time wish. Maybe one day I’ll take the journey across the pond to make it happen.
I can’t wait to read Runaway Rock Star! Definitely want to know more about Lucas and Brandon. They sound like a fun couple to hang out with. 🙂
Love a good rock star m/m tale, always!
Congratulations and much success, CJ!

Congrats and thanks for the impromptu visit. The book sounds like fun and I like the Ohio setting. I lived there for decades and became an OSU & Browns fan. But when I moved to Chicago I became a Cubs fan, sorry about the Indians (not) :-). –
