REVIEW:
So the plot of this book is really simple. Dude pisses off a witch and gets turned into a cat, then ends up living with his ex because he has no one else to turn to. Sounds a bit cracky, yes? Well, it is. Know what else it is? Awesome. Fucking awesome.
This is not a long story, but my god did I enjoy every single page. I love how the story starts with Alex already being a cat. Not only does it instantly draw you into the story because you have to know more about him, but it also means that when you do find out what happened to put him in this situation it has all the more impact. By the time you get to the why you are already completely sold on the characters and this whole situation. It doesn’t matter that a talking cat–and yeah, I totally was imagining Salem from Sabrina, the Teenage Witch (please tell me you know who that is or else I’m gonna feel real old)–who writes books and wear clothes is a bit ridiculous…but by that point all you know is that Alex is freaking awesome and you want more.
I don’t know what else to say to sell you on this book. I wish it had been a hundred pages longer because I was so down with this story and the writing. I was getting misty over the star-crossed love of a man-turned-cat and his ex-boyfriend. And despite how odd that may sound, it is really that good.
I think this is one of the first offerings from this author, but you can bet I’ll be keeping an eye on her.
