Wolf shifter Falco Gladstone knew Carter McCloud was his mate when they were in seventh grade, but school and the foster care system tore them apart. Years later, Falco is second in command of his Michigan pack, serving under an uncle who cares more about his own power than the welfare of their people. The alpha orders Falco to marry and produce offspring—but Falco’s already found his mate, and mates are forever.
Carter’s lonely life is turned upside down when he detects a familiar scent on the wind. The mates might have found each other, but their happily ever after is far from guaranteed. Falco’s commitment to Carter puts him at odds with his uncle’s plans, and when one of the alpha’s enforcers starts shadowing the couple, something must be done—something that will either cement their relationship or destroy it once and for all.
REVIEW:
I thoroughly enjoyed reading Lost Mate. I must admit I was a bit concerned because there are so many m/m paranormal, shifter romance story’s out there that it takes an author with a lot of skill to give the reader that “something different” and luckily for us Dirk Greyson has done just that with this story!!
Falco Gladstone was 12 years old when he first met his mate Carter McCloud. Carter was the new boy at school and being picked on by the school bully’s when Falco rescued him. Falco had no idea what the feelings meant but as he was reaching all milestones early he asked his mother about them. After he discovered he had more than likely met his mate Falco spent as much time with Carter as he could and the more time they spent together the more certain Falco was that Carter was his mate. Two weeks Falco had with his mate and then he was gone.
Cater has opened a pet store so he can protect as many animals as he can, not to mention they love him unconditionally and greet him with lots of love and affection every morning! Carter is incredibly lonely but it’s better than being in a relationship with a bossy, overbearing man who has decided that Carter was his to do with as he wanted up to and including physically abusing him to get his way. Then one day he sees someone he thinks is familiar to him but he’s not certain, one thing he does know is that the big brute is his mate.
Falco has just had to stand by and watch as his uncle challenged and beat the Alpha that his own father left the pack to, all because he is gay and mated to another man. When Falco’s uncle takes over as Alpha he decides Falco must pick a pack female, mate her and start producing pups immediately! The one thing Falco has never let on to anyone in the pack is that he’s already met his mate and his wolf won’t let him be with anyone else. Until the day, Falco goes to town and smells his mate, now all bets are off.
Falco has a long way to go to make his mate feel safe around him when just by his size he scares him. To make sure that not only is Carter safe but the entire pack from his uncles scheming machinations, Falco must make sure his uncle and his lackeys don’t find out his mate is a man or he too will be kicked out of the pack. Therefore, Falco feels like he’s constantly walking a tightrope that he feels like he’s going to fall off any moment. Not only does Falco and Carter have their relationship to get sorted but they have the pack members who have just witnessed their new Alpha oust the previous one for being gay but there is so much internal upheaval within the pack and the current Alpha is doing nothing to settle their fears.
I highly recommend Lost Mate for all paranormal, shifter romance lovers to sink your teeth into.
