Remus is still reeling from the unexpected betrayal of his best friend when he learns that there is more to Arthur than he or the rest of the pack ever imagined. As the hunter’s moon approaches, Remus must come to a decision that will change the Kingdom of Night forever. While his story reaches its resolution within this trilogy, Arthur’s journey is just beginning. Their stories intertwine in a tale that will unite brothers, kingdoms and destinies…if it doesn’t divide them first.
This is a long story, but one that sucks you into its world of good v. evil, vampires against werewolves (who make up the Kingdom of Night) and a few others in between. It is pretty intricately woven with many twists and turns as we find out details of characters’ pasts, why things are happening now, and what can possibly be done to secure a future. The various gods seem to be playing petty games with each other using their creations (the wolves, vamps and hunters) as puppets.
Not everyone is who they seem and many clearly have more important roles to play. While we do lose a few in this installment, there is closure for them and it all feels as though everything is happening for a reason. There are still many unanswered questions about what is to become as players take on new roles and the game appears to have definitely changed. So, this installment closes a chapter but also sets a new one in motion. I highly recommend this series to paranormal lovers and urge you to read them in order to fully understand what all is going on and why. I can’t wait to dive into the next one to see where this story is going and how our trio is making out in their new life.
