2nd Edition
Rodeo cowboy Teagan has inherited his father’s ranch, and it’s in a bad way. To pay his bills, he’ll have to work the rodeo circuit hard, and for that he needs a partner. Team roper Cash is just the ticket. He’s not the friendliest sort, but he has a good seat and a better roping arm, so Teagan takes Cash on and things heat up fast. Maybe too fast.
When Teagan finds out he’s not the only one Cash has in the saddle, he thinks they’re over for good. But then Cash has an accident, and Teagan cares too much about Cash to abandon him. How will he deal with a new Cash, one with no memory of being a bit of an asshole—or of a relationship with Teagan? And how will Cash react when he realizes Teagan has been less than forthcoming about their past?
Like any good rodeo ride, Teagan and Cash have ups and downs, crashing and burning as often as they blaze bright. But to make their love work as smoothly as their roping, they’ll have to push past deception and stubborn pride.
First Edition published as Tabula Rasa by Torquere Press, 2007.
REVIEW:
Let me start with the fact when I saw this on the coming soon page and read the blurb I was sold. It is no secret I love me some cowboys, ranch stories etc.
Unfortunately I was left disappointed. Yes the story fits perfectly the ranch, cowboys, riding, horses, bull riding, cattle etc but that is kind of it.
I couldn’t connect to either of the characters, the story was rushed and this might sound weird coming out of my mouth, but it drives on sex. I wonder if there is a chapter where there isn’t a hand job, blow job or any other sexual encounter mentioned.
There is a serious part near the ending of the book and there I definitely found the connection I was looking for but when I really got into that part it was done. Hence my comment about feeling rushed. I loved the connection between Cash and Teagan in that part and the way they worked around the ranch and each other.
This story had so much potential. The relationship between Teagan and Cash, the relationship with Teagan and stepmom Loribeth and even Lori and Cash. Yes we get an explanation of what happened between Lori and Cash and I was glad to read that but that was told from Teagan. Even some info on the relationship between Teagan and his dad would have been appreciated. Like why he is so set on saving the ranch?
Like I said lots of missed opportunities on this one. I would have loved to have seen way less sex and way more story. I didn’t really get an emotional connection at all.
Even at the end we find out Cash went to his daddy’s ranch, but wasn’t there a reason why he left? And why did he come back and what happened? It just left me confused.
To be clear I love me some sex and I can definitely work with a threesome but it has to be valid and at least understandable and explained in one way or another. In this story we don’t get either which turned me off to say the least.
To end on a positive note the author sure knows how to write an erotic scene and explores different ways in showing them off. And don’t forget to appreciate the fabulous cover!
I am sorry to say this was just not my story. If you want an erotic story which involves rodeo and cowboys and two snarky men this might definitely be your kind of story though.
